I like Trader Joe but there isn’t one in the immediate area so I don’t go there very often. They have the best prices for bags of nuts and I like some of the other items they have that other stores don’t.
It is about an hour away, where the good doctors are. Was at the doc this week but skipped TJ’s and went to Whole Foods. Since they added the discounts for Amazon Prime members, you can get some good deals! They have the most beautiful produce department in this part of the US. And the bread/bakery - the chocolate brioche loaf will bring one to tears.
Meh.
Not impressed. Not in the least.
I had one about 20 minutes from me, tried to shop there but found little. Seems to be a good shopping place for someone who is single and under 26 years old. Maybe even newly married in that 21-26 age group. I brought my husband with me once. He didn’t find anything of interest either.
I thought the refrigerated pizza dough looked good, but I make my own pizza dough so even that was a ‘uh, no’.
I’d suggest going again. My son is in management at a very large corporate discount grocery. He knows the prices of every grocery item they sell. While a few TJ items were higher than his prices, the majority were at or below those prices!
The stores are not as large as the mega-grocery stores we see at the big corporate locations.
At TJs you may have 3 brands of jelly, while mega-store has 10 brands. TJ’s has primarily their own branded items, for instance I bought a bag of frozen Trader Joe’s brand gnocchi in marinara sauce. They did not offer Stouffers or Bertolli, etc., only store brand. It was as good or better than anything I have had in a restaurant!
