Hi, my name is Bao I was accepted by the Archdiocese of Seattle to study for the priesthood at St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park, California. I will entering into the seminary with an undergraduate degree in business administration. I will have to take 2 years of pre-theology before I enter into first theology. I came from a family of holy orders. My great uncle was a Bishop in Vietnam from 1968 to 1990 and my adopted grandpa was a priest for 49 years died as of 2003 with 5000 people show up to his funeral. I hopefully can follow in my grandpa footstep someday. I will be 36 years old when I get ordain to the priesthood for Archdiocese of Seattle. Some of the staffs at my parish is a good age to be ordain because I have worked in private sector before getting ordain to the priesthood.

We need more of good and holy priest.

Bao, God bless you! I just went to the first mass of a priest who was ordained at about your age, or even a couple of years older. Many priests & religious have told me that most of their new members are second-career vocations, so you are in good company. In our diocese, all of the ordinations this year were second-career. I think that a person who hears the call later in life really knows what he wants, that is to commit his life to God.

Good luck, and be sure that many of us lay people are praying for you & all of our priests & seminarians.

congrats. just out of curiosity…how is it that your grandfather was a priest? that means you had a grandmother correct? would love to the story if possible.

We had a priest from your country at a parish for a few years. he was transfered. He will be missed.

God bless you, I will keep you in my prayers.

He said that it was his “adopted” granpa that was a priest. So, it wasn’t anyone who was actually related to him.

Good luck on your journey. Keep in touch with us and let us know how it’s going.
