Brothers and Sisters:

As Corpus Christi nears, I thought might be edifying to post sermons and meditations on the most blessed and lifegiving Sacrament of the Body and Blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I’ll post the first, and I invite all those who wish to post sermons and meditations they can link…

There is one correction that I should make you aware of… Apparently, the woman making the transcription made a mistake which changed the meaning of this paragraph…

But the Mass is also the ASCENSION, because as we kneel at the altar and receive the Bread of Life and the Cup of Salvation, our Lord takes us up with him into the heavenly places, into the bosom of the Father. Every act of Holy Communion is an ascension with Christ into heaven.

I hope that this proves edifying.

I know the Real Presence Association has a lot of good Material and is an excellent resource for catechesis - I’ve recently found their description of how the Manna in the Desert is a prefigurment of the Eucharist to be a better choice for an O.T. reading than the ones used in the Mass for Corpus Christi… I had to tie a few of the Scriptures they cited from Exodus 16 together -
Exodus 16:4-6, 8 & 10-18.

But, What I was hoping to get were reflections on the Eucharist and on our Lord’s Body& Blood and what these great gifts meant for the Catholics on this forum. At the same time, I was hoping that our forummates would remember, reflect on or research homilies and sermons on this topic and post them for our mutual edification and the greater glory of God.

What I was really hoping to do is to have us contemplate who it is that comes down from His throne to the alter and enters the host and the wine and changes both into Himself, so they would understand why St. Cyril believed kissing our Lord’s Body and touching Him to our eyes and nose would honor Him and bless us.

To honor our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who gives Himself to us in this Great Sacrament, please post Homilies, Articles, etc. which you have found meaningful, or which have changed your attitude towards our Lord’s Body and Blood or cause you to receive this Great Sacrament more frequently or more reverently.
