Server's kisses

Are the kisses manadatory for those following the missal of 1962? I have been to some EF masses and they are omitted, but the other day I went to an FSSP mass and all were in. Most recently, the server was kissing the cruets, but nothing else (!?).

If I recall rightly, the solita oscula is what the term says it is - custom of kissing. So where the is the custom of doing so, it is done. It really is up to the priest or MC.

And then again sometimes genuine mistakes are made 😉
 
An old MC I know mentioned this. I recall that it’s down to the personal preference of the priest and server. You can do it, or not.
