Hi Masondoggy! 👋
So did you attend the conference? How did you like Seton?
Did you decide what you plan to do?

I’m stuck as far as what to do for this upcoming year as well. :o I wanted to venture off on my own but am worried about keeping up on documentation, transcripts, etc (basically wanting to make sure I dot all my i’s and cross all my t’s, lol).

I’ve heard that w/ Kolbe you can enroll (so you have the accountability part taken care of) but you can use your own books (you grade your own stuff, etc.)…basically the benefit of it is that you A) don’t have to use their books if you don’t like them and B) everything is documented for you (I’m guessing the parents enter the grades in like w/ Seton)…not sure if you can still take their tests or not…

We enrolled when I hs and it was worth every. It is indeed challenging and time consumming…but in my view it is Catholic School at home +++. Meaning, it is more Catholic and has more rigour than most seated Cathloic schools.
My kids also spread a range. I found for my bright achiever, the feedback from the school (graded tests, papers, etc.) was great. She loved getting her work graded and seeing it online and receiving work with comments via email. It was hard enough for her, for sure and as she is very good at math, we did two years over the course of one. For my son who struggles some, I put him a grade behind in math and English and we worked at a slower pace. It really gave him a wonderful foundation and the faith based part made the work encouraging to him.
For my bright but lazy artsy son, he ‘got through’ Seton so that he could go play and be creative. That was fine. He got the academics he needed and being enrolled motivated him as he knew someone other than mom was grading the work. He would have done well with a Unit study method or more hands on, but I could not do two curriculums and my husband wisely saw that Seton would give him a bit of a work ethic push, which he needed.

My kids are now all in parochial school. Seton prepared them all very well. I would enroll all 3 of your kids and try it for a year. Between the lesson plans, online access to things, teacher help when needed (you can call them, email them, whatever…and you will get a response and their time), graded tests and papers, record keeping at their office, report cards and all books…I found it worth every single penny. Plus, of course, it is very, very Catholic. I loved it.

The conference is this weekend and I’m hoping to go. Have to find a sitter.

At this point, I’m leaning towards enrolling but I’m still trying to get DH on board with this whole homeschooling thing. Actually, I’ve kind of left it in God’s hands and told Him that if He wants my kids homeschooled, He’s gonna have to convince DH because DH sure isn’t gonna listen to ME. So, we’ll see what God has planned.
