"Seusscharist" by Episcopal church in Pittsburgh

Never been a Stones fan myself. We could have Led Zeppelin do the processional hymn with “Nobody’s Fault but Mine,” Toto could play “Hold the Line” for the communion line-up, post communion could be “Cheer Down” by George Harrison (one of my favorites) and the exit tune could be “Goodbye to Romance” by Ozzy

Personally I’d love to see The Rolling Stones do the Liturgical Dance; I think it’d add a whole new meaning to it.

I wouldn’t get to excited over this. It appears nothing more then a different attempt to make it fun for the kids to learn as opposed to feeding them the standard ritual that I as a child found to be incredibly boring.

I’m kind of mystified as to why you would be so upset over this; it really doesn’t have an impact on you directly. Its something the Episcopal Church did, not the Catholic Church.

It does not effect me in terms of what christians do with their community in their liturgy.
I simply thought it could be more than a touch insensitive to some folks in attendence who recently suffered a great loss to be saying they were thankful for the fun they had all week. Don’t protestants value suffering also? Isn’t having pain and loss a connection to Jesus? I wonder how much Fun Jesus really had here.

i love the Rolling Stones, but in their dotage, they really have become somewhat of a charicature of themselves… i think id forgo a bunch of geriatrics trying to act like their still 20…lol! Peace

I simply thought it could be more than a touch insensitive to some folks in attendence who recently suffered a great loss to be saying they were thankful for the fun they had all week. Don’t protestants value suffering also? Isn’t having pain and loss a connection to Jesus? I wonder how much Fun Jesus really had here.

Exactly! And at least those “geriatrics” are enjoying what they do and are still doing it with gusto! More power to 'em. I marvel at these “old timers” who can get out there and blow the socks off the young pups. Iron Maiden can still run out on the stage and blow the bands that are in their 20’s opening for them straight to Hades!

I just think your looking at it from a different perspective. I don’t see what capitalizing the “P” in Protestant has to do with this issue either. Your certainly entitled to your opinion, and while I may not agree with it, it is what it is.

Here’s where I disagree with this post: using the phrase “beginning of” and “slow.”

The Episcopal Church has been in free-fall since the late 70’s. And in the last decade they’ve been on the fast track, not the slow boat, to oblivion. Nothing has been slow and the beginning was women’s ordination and the new secularist left wing social justice chaotic hippy-style theology of the late 60’s and early 70’s that has marred and smeared Episcopalian thinking into the mess it is in the year 2010. This nonsense started taking root a long time ago and now we’re seeing the carnage.

While I admit this might be “well-intentioned,” I have to say without reservation that we ARE seeing evidence of the beginning of the slow, painful Death of The Institution Known As The Episcopal Church.

Also evidence that we are INDEED in the “Last Days.”

im not too far from it myself…only hope i can move half as well as i do now. not too good now. lol! getting worse by the year. i blame it on joining the military later in life, and finding out the hard way, im not a teenager anymore. i can still smoke some of these young kids in a two mile run though. and do just as many, if not more pushups! their all right for the most part though. dont think ill be reading any dr. seuss to them anytime soon. I really thought that having great love and giving of ones self was having a connection to Jesus. If having pain and loss is a connection to Jesus, then shouldn’t we be creating as many opportunities as possible for pain and suffering?

It is not incidental that these “rites” are found only in ecclesial communities which have rejected said sacrificial aspect; the ones that want Easter Sunday without Good Friday.
