The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops(USCCB) states in the New American Bible Revised Edition (NABRE) in Tobit Chapter 12 footnotes the following:* [12:12] Raphael is one of the seven Angels of the Presence, specially designated intercessors who present prayers to God. Angelology was developing in this period. The names of two other of these seven angels are given in the Bible: Gabriel (Dn 8:16; 9:21; Lk 1:19, 26) and Michael (Dn 10:13, 21; 12:1; Jude 9; Rev 12:7). See 1 Enoch for the names of the rest.
Now following what the USCCB stated looking at Book of Enoch I think it can be clearly argued that Uriel and Phanuel can be demonstrated as being among the Seven Archangels.
Taking into consideration that Saint Gregory, who is one of the Doctors of the Church and Pope. names Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Phanuel, Zarachiel, and Simiel.
My question is why does the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops make a reference to the seven archangels but do not answer the question, which is who are “the seven Angels of the Presence.”
