Seven-day silent Ignation retreat message: “you are going in the right direction.”

I wanted to share. I have had a spiritual director for a number of years. He suggested that I go on a seven-day silent retreat at the Milford Oh retreat center (30 days might be a someday possibility but would have to wait until retirement, I think). I had a few questions that I wanted direct answers to, including, should I search for a new relationship or be single and am I in the right career, or does God’s will want me to pursue something else/

I came away with the habit of daily morning reading and contemplating each day’s Mass readings, and also, the peace-filled “knowledge” that my current path is the right one. So, I am open to staying and to relationship, and am working my job.

It’s good to spend some time in silence with God.

I LOVE a silent retreat.
I frequently go to them at the Jesuit Retreat house here.
Wonderful. Our pastor is taking the entire staff on one during Advent as a staff.

I so agree with you! Some you tell cannot imagine not talking for even a couple days, but the interior conversation with God is what matters! God bless you on your staff retreat!

Thanks! Even silent retreats are not totally silent, as they offer Spiritual DIrection for one hour daily, and there is also daily Mass in which, of course, we pray aloud.

One would be amazed at how much communication can be made with a simple pat on the shoulder as we pass & a nod and a smile at breakfast.

It’s so wonderful, and when I had a hard time resting, I could always go to the 24 hour Adoration chapel.

it teaches one the value of silence and the proper use of our time. We never truly realize the useless distractions in our lives until they are simply GONE.
