Revelations does not mentin Rome!!!
So what? It mentions seven hills and it doesn’t mention a city, nor does Revelation mention the Mass, but it describes the Mass. And Guess what, we have Mass. There is no “s” in Revelation. some people will try to discredit you saying you don’t even know how spell it, which is stupid, but it is hard to over come.

The city of Rome as it sits today, sits on more than seven hills. The ancient city of Rome sat on 7 hills. When Rome sat on 7 hills, the Vatican would NOT have been part of the City of Rome. In fact, the Vatican is NOT a part of the City of Rome today, as it is it’s own nation.

Ancient Rome sat on 7 hills, the Vatican sits across the Tiber from where the OLD Roman city limits sat. So even in the ancient city of Rome, where the Vatican sits is NOT on the 7 hills.

Whew…hope this sets that fallacy straight 😉

Well since none us of here will live to see the AntiChrist it really doesn’t matter.

The Old Testament Prophets referred to Jerusalem as the whore city, the new Egypt, the new Sodom, ect… So the Whore could be Jerusalem, especially with it being the city where the Lord was crucifed, with the Beast referring to Rome, since the beast came out of the sea, the **sea **relating to Gentile countries, and Land referring to Israel.
And though it is referring to the end times, it was also pointing to the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD. Jerusalem was laid waste. I like Scott Hahn’s "The Lamb supper", he talks about this view on the book of revelation.

SEVEN HILLS

Revelation 17:9-10 “Here is a clue for one who has wisdom. The seven heads represent seven hills upon which the woman sits. They also represent seven kings: five have already fallen, one still lives, and the last has not yet come, and when he comes he must remain only a short while.”

Some have tried to claim that the Roman Catholic Church is the Whore of Babylon by pointing out that Rome has been referred to as a city on seven hills. The Seven Hills of Rome are; the Palatine, Aventine, Capitoline, Quirinal, Viminal, Esquiline, and the Caelian Hill. However, Saint Peter’s Basilica was built on Vatican Hill, Collis Vaticanus, which is on the other side of the Tiber River and is not one of these Seven Hills. St. Peter Basilica’s high altar was built directly on top of Saint Peter’s grave which was outside of the city and across the river. [See the book The Bones of St. Peter by John Evangelist Walsh]

The reference to the seven hills does fit in regards to Jerusalem.

Jerusalem was a large city spreading beyond the walls of the fort and onto the seven hills there during the time of Jesus and the Apostles. It’s seven hills are; 1.) Mount Gared; 2.) Mount Goath; 3.) Mount Acra; 4.) Mount Bezetha; 5.) Mount Moriah; 6.) Mount Ophel; 7.) Mount Zion. Sometimes, some will substitute the first four with the Mount of Olives, Mount of Offence, Mount of Evil Counsel, and Mount Calvary.

Mount Calvary is presently leveled for the most part. It was a major quarry that was used for the building of the city. As the quarrymen cut into the stone layer by layer they discovered a section that was flawed. A crack in that section made it unusable so they cut around it. As they cut and cleared away the stone slabs from around the flawed section it left an outcropping rising thirty feet from the floor of the quarry to where the top of the hill had once been. It was into this flawed crack that the Roman’s placed the upright beam of the cross of the criminals that they crucified to place fear into their subjects. And it was here that our Savior gave his life for our salvation.

The seven hills of Jerusalem are Scopus, Nob, Olivet, “Mount of Corruption” or “Mount of Offence”, “Mount Zion”, and “Ophel Mount” These are the seven hill spoken of in Revelation and the reason that a “New Jerusalem” will come down from the heavens. Jerusalem is where they murdered our Lord.

My personal belief is the seven hills are in Rome.

KJV My NAB link is down;

Daniel Chapter 11

11Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of the sanctuary was cast down.

12And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.

Daniel Chapter 12

11And from the time that the daily sacrifice [Eucharist] shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

12Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

13But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.

He shall make desolate the Church by taking the place of the Pope, he being anti-Christ, and stopping the true Mass.
I am sorry but this is not about Rome. it is about jerusalem and the Third Temple where Anti-christ will allow the OT sacricfices to happen for 3 1/2 years and then it is stopped.

Rome was the city known at that time to be the city of seven hills and it was as pagan as you can get. jerusalem may have seven hills also but it has the eastern gate through which Jesus MUST enter when He returns. The Throne of David is where Jesus will sit, not Rome.

Rome will be destroyed. Will the vatican be physically destroyed? perhaps. Most likely. Who knows for sure.

i know that this is a terrible thought to catholics and it is not meant to be a reflection on their devotion to their faith. But by this time in the future, Rome will be filled with wicked people who will not be faithful God fearing men. Should they be “priests” they don’t deserve the roman collar.

By this time this whore will consist of many other factions that will have blended into what we now call The One World Religion and the vatican may have been given over to it.
The vatican is nothing but a building. It will have been stripped of all its beauty having to do with Chrsit. No ancient bibles. No wonderful crucfixes. No painted ceilings.

It will no longer be the vatican you think of today. It will be in the hands of Anti-christ, so no Christ will be there.

The Good News is that when this happens, rejoice!!! The King will sooon come.

I love it when someone speaks with such devotion, but not an ounce of authority. Have you actually read the scripture that refers to Jerusalem as Babylon and the Great City. John himself makes this statement. Jerusalem is where they welcomed our Lord and then murdered him. The finest argument on this subject, with scripture to support it, is offered by Dr. Scott Hahn. I would recommend a review of his theological findings.

I have read it many times and have read many books on this subject as well as listening to several very good prophecy teachers, some who have somewhat opposing views. i have also listened to Dr Hahn who claims that revelation is about the catholic Mass which is bunk.

As for authority, it is a cold word . Devotion is a loving word.

So, we will never agree and it would be futile to further an apologetic debate since we come from entirly different “worlds” so to speak.

I love certain aspect of catholicsm and i do not lower myself into those arguments in which some people like, love, to beat up each other with superiority . I try to learn and have found my self wrong .So what? no sin. You go back and learn more.

There is spiritual babylon ( Rome) which is to be destoyed and there is physical babylon ( well, Babylon). The ancient mother/child cult from the tower of babylon has persisted to this day in both the spiitual and the was in the physical. babylon, Babylon, has fallen, fallen. TWO Babylons. If I go further, it may bring down the wrath of the authorities here as I do not wish to seem like i am catholic bashing. However, you seem to be bashing other chrsitian beliefs. But, ah, i did venture into apologetics.

So I will leave you with this

God has said that He will Bless those who say

“Pray for the peace of jerusalem”

Not Rome

This might be a dead thread, but if anyone still checks in, yes Shogun, I would like to read Scott Hahn’s material that states Jerusalem is the Great Harlot and Babylon the Great.

I must say, the early Church Fathers seem to think it is Rome though. Victorinus says it is Rome. So I’m not sure Scott can prove his idea is backed up by Tradition…

Also as someone pointed out, Daniel 12 seems to suggest the daily Sacrifice that the Antichrist stops fits with the Eucharist, since this is not something Jerusalem does, though I suppose if a third temple gets built, it may bring back daily sacrifices…

Interesting question, but what has the Magisterium and Early Church Fathers said?
