I recently reconciled to Catholicism which has not exactly pleased many members of my extended family who are Seventh Day Adventists. My aunt and uncle just mailed me two Ellen G. White books, one being “The Great Controversy” which is probably the most well-known and distributed of her numerous works. I wanted to see if any forum members could direct me to any Catholic websites that critique this work specifically or at least critique many similar arguments that are put forth in other anti-Catholic Protestant tracts. Also, I would appreciate it if anyone could suggest any Catholic works that explicitly direct their attention to SDA claims, particularly the ones regarding the changing of the Sabbath. Thank you for the help!

First of all, welcome home! There are a few tracts on this very website dealing specifically with the SDA’s. I’ll link them for you below.

catholic.com/library/Seventh_Day_Adventism.asp

catholic.com/library/Sabbath_or_Sunday.asp

catholic.com/library/Hunting_the_Whore_of_Babylon.asp

catholic.com/library/Whore_of_Babylon.asp

catholic.com/library/Hell_There_Is.asp

catholic.com/library/The_Antichrist.asp

This should get you started. I’m sure others will be able to help you with suggestions of books and perhaps other sites with information directly related to your situation. If you have any other questions, just ask!

Occasionally I read the blog of an sda convert, called sda2rc which I think is a pretty good. I don’t know if your question has ever been specifically addressed there, but it might be worth a look. I know the posts are organized into many categories on the left side of the page, including one on Ellen White.

Edit: I clicked on the category “Dies Domini” on the sda2rc blog and found this article (in pdf format): Harmful Caricatures of Catholics in the Great Controversy. I haven’t yet read it, but I hope it is helpful to you.

Ellen Gould White, whose name interestingly adds up to 666,started receiving her “revelations” or “visions” after receiving a rather severe blow to the head.

She was also woefully incorrect as to a number of "prophecies"she made. The cornerstone of that sect or cult is virulant anti-Catholicism in a similar vein albeit different context than those other cultists the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
