They corrupt your mind with lies must keep to the sabbath or you have the beast number in your soul. I am a former member who is looking for a true religion that doesn’t base there religion on lies and false Gods/prophets…
Hi Zack8, it’s a rough swim from SDA to RC, but it can be done. Keep seeking the truth.
Catholic Answers Apologist, Michelle Arnold, made the crossover from SDA, and her conversion story is here:

Blessings to you!

Why am I LDS?
I don’t like to share my conversion w/just anybody. It is personal and private and I don’t want my experience to be made fun of, ridiculed or spat upon or made light of. I read what others say about Mormon beliefs and I would rather be a friend than give fodder for contention.
I have a really difficult time with this seeming cop-out answer. I understand people can be shy and private people. Scripture commands us to be ready to respond.

Bill Pick asked you a question. We do this as true Christians. Your are commanded in Scripture to:
“always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that is within you.” 1 Peter 3:15

Are you ashamed?

What about confess Me before men and I will confess you before my Father?

Or is it possible that you are following a false gospel?

this summer i attended a prophecy seminar. i had been attending for a few nights and then i decided i should ask and see if a local church was putting on the seminar. they said it was the Adventists. i was really getting into the seminar and everyone seemed so nice, but then one night they said some very bad things about Catholics and i was very disappointed. it seemed ridiculous. i attended a few more times and didn’t go back.
i am a new Catholic and i get the feeling there is a lot of anti-catholicism out there.
anyhow, i have nothing wrong with them thinking the Sabbath is Friday at sundown through Saturday at sundown. many times i like going to saturday evening mas.
but i couldn’t understand the reasoning about the attacks on the Catholic Church, Rome and the Pope.
so if you see a prophecy seminar is in town, ask and see first who is putting it on.

Adventists think that Christ is the archangel Michael incarnate? What is that all about?

There is an SDA church directly opposite the house where I am now living. I can’t look out my living room window seeing it. I’ve never been in there, and I don’t know anything about them other than that they are some sort of Protestant denomination, but now I guess I’m glad that I didn’t attend their free fourth of July barbeque earlier this month. Y’know, come to think of it, whoever it was that was MC-ing that event was saying some pretty wierd stuff…something about being thankful that the U.S. military was victorious over the Aztecs… 🤷

yes, i had some show up at my door one Sunday unannounced. this was during the couple of weeks that the seminar was in town. they seemed like nice people, but it seemed to oppressive for me. i didn’t answer the door because i don’t like when people like that come by unannounced. they definitely love Jesus. i didn’t hear anything about them saying that Christ is the archangel michael, but that doesn’t mean they don’t.
they definitely believe in what the Bible says word for word.

One thing I definitely find cultish about the SDAs is that in their literature they usually don’t identify themselves (at least the Mormons and JWs have the decency to be up front about who they are). Many years ago I picked up a book titled “National Sunday Law” that attacked Sunday worship as the Mark of the Beast, the Catholic Church is the Whore of Babylon, etc. There was also an offer to send away for more information about the “true church.” I didn’t belong to any church at the time and wanted to join the Church that Jesus established, so I sent off away the postcard, and received a book titled 'The Great Controversy" by Ellen G. White, and in the back was a postcard to have a Seventh Day Adventist call. I decided to read the book first, and when it started talking about William Miller (a false prophet who predicted the end of the world in 1843), they lost credibility with me and I lost interest. I still see SDA pamphlets and books from time to time- you can tell they are SDA because they’ll talk about the Sabbath and the need to jeep the Jewish dietary laws, Sunday Worship as evil, quotes by E.G. White etc…

I’m a once-a-week Red Cross volunteer and the manager of the office is a SDA. He doesn’t know that I am becoming a Catholic. Wait til’ he finds out! A month ago he wanted me and my mom to go and teach some red cross classes at the SDA school where his wife teaches. I always wear this huge gold cross and a equally huge St. Christopher. My mom also wears a diamond cross and her dad’s St. Christopher. He made it really clear NOT to wear our necklaces.

I was shocked, not knowing much about SDA. Why would I want to take my faith off of my neck? What is wrong with that picture?

We ended up doing something else and not teaching the class.

Am I ashamed? NO!

We have also been commanded not to cast pearls to the swine.

I

I am a Mormon and former Catholic. I am sorry to see such hate against fellow humans.

From Wikipedia
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Smith

When a leading apostle, David W. Patten, raised insulting questions, Smith slapped him in the face and kicked him into the yard.[55] After a warrant was issued for Smith’s arrest on the charge of bank fraud, Smith and Rigdon fled Kirtland for Missouri on the night of January 12, 1838.[56]

First there was the Texas Chainsaw Massacre! Then came the Amityville Horror! Then “The Exorcist!” Now…the Seventh Day Adventist Horror!!!😃 This thread title is hilarious.

But the subject matter is not. Hey, hope you’ll consider the Catholic Church and visit Mass at a few churches, try RCIA, read your brains out on Catholicism and see what you think. Pray hard, read history, and best of luck! Catholicism is definitely no cult! Welcome!

Then come to the catholic church where truth and love flow like a river!

Read the catechism of the catholic cburch. this will explain to you exactly what the church teaches!

I’m praying for you!

Well, almost all of my experiences with Mormons have been good! For crying out loud, I could quote that verse on most of my posts, but its not right to say that about Christ’s people, and its kind of difficult to distinguish in this kind of a setting. But you are bold indeed to come here and throw our Scriptures in our face, but apparently not bold enough to defend your faith!

The bible says not to let yourself be judged concerning a sabbath.

The SDA’s judge if you do not keep to the sabbath and worship on Saturday, the RC judges you guilty of mortal sin if you do not keep to the sabbath and worship on Sunday, though they follow more of a Jewish day with many worshipping on what we call Saturday night.

They both have their authorities, SDA’s have Ellen White, Catholics have Popes and Councils.

All it really boils down to is deciding which of those authorities is infallible and then follow them.

Third option of course is deciding neither of those is infallible. That they have no business declaring you condemned for not worshipping on their designated day of the week.

The Christian Sabbath is not really a day of the week, it is the true rest we receive when we rest from our works and trust in Jesus. This trusting in Jesus is the true Sabbath which starts here on Earth and will continue in heaven. Those who put themselves under laws will never have a true Sabbath for the observation of laws is always a work. Of course you can be saved by the law as long as you keep it perfectly.

So were you of the group that is still holding very much to Ellen White was a prophet and following her or were you of the group that has moved away from her and more into shall we say main stream Protestantism?

Hello Zack8,

I am so sorry you had a bad experience with the SDA church. I think this is quite common with all the legalism. I think it’s particularly hard on young people.

jargon631 is another ex-SDA member who had a tough go in that church. You might also find Patrick Murebil on these forums. He was SDA and now is a Roman Catholic; he is a very good soul.

Anyway, I currently attend an SDA church and feel very blessed. However, I am a raving heretic and quite progressive. If there is anything I can do, please let me know. If you want someone to throw stones at, that is ok. If you want to know about the joy I have in the SDA church, I would love to share.

I will pray for you and hope you find a church where you are blessed and loved.

Point being, you’re not going to persuade anyone like that, it will just offend them - the infamous “clanging gong”.
And you give the heathen another opportunity to bash believers.
