Seven day Adventist are the craziest people ever. They air all their dirty laundry to just about any1. And when they sin they have to speak it publicly to the congregation. Crazy people.

What has this got to do with the topic of this thread; even if it were true?

To be honest, nothing. I fully disagree with their teachings on hell. I just saw this thread and thought I’d voice my opinion on them. As far as what I said being true- I believe it is. I’ve had made many acquaintances with them and I find them rather weird and crazy compared to other protestants. You disagree?

Wait it does. I did mention the name seven day Adventist which is part of the topic. Right? 😉

This is an extremely uncharitable post and I think you owe our Adventist brothers and sisters an apology. It is one thing to disagree with their interpretation of the Bible , or with Adventist doctrine, but quite another to call them crazy and make blanket statements about them. I have some wonderful Adventist friends, and they are not what you describe above.

Again, it is okay to disagree with their teachings, but not fair to attack them with undocumented accusations.

Sincerely,

Maria1212

Thankyou for your kind attitude. 🙂

Thanks Protestant 101. What I wrote above is true!

I think people sometimes leave their manners at home, or write when they are angry, when it comes to online forums. I know I have written some posts in the past that could have used a dose of charity.

Sincerely,

Same here. 😃

Just got back from the soup kitchen. We call it loaves and fishes. Yeah maybe I was a bit harsh. And I am sorry for being harsh, but I’ve yet to meet one who isn’t weird. See here, I’ve had problems with them. I’ve had a girlfriend who’s one and I loved her dearly but her family was just crazy. The father is a recovering porn addict and he is becoming a better man. Her mom told us the he was a recovering porn addict. And he(the father) had to talk about it in front of the congregation at thier local church sevenday adventist church. Now see I don’t need to know that. Those are issues you keep to yourself.

They(the parents) wanted to get rid of her(my girlfriend) because they didn’t want to take care of her. Her step mom and dad wanted her to go to a trailer cramped with 3 people already in it one who is an alcoholic. They (the parents) told her(my girlfriend) it was part of his (the father’s) recovery. Oh boy was I mad. To get rid of a child is a recovery method. You tell me that’s not crazy. By the grace of God they didn’t ship her away. Instead she is living with friends now. Maybe I’ve just run in to the wrong people maybe there are nicer ones out there. I’ve met another seven day Adventist family. They were better but yet still talked about issues that should be quiet and were noise too.

Dear “stringbeanduck”

I want to sincerely thank you for having the courage to share so personally of your own experience. When I saw from your post that inspite of it all, you are still going out and helping people, and blessing them through the soup-kitchen ministry my heart was truly blessed. Only God can work in us like that! 👍

I could never refuse my duty to serve the Lord. It means a lot when a poor man comes up to you and thanks you.

I am sorry you faced such a difficult situation with your girlfriend`s family. I will be sure to keep them in my prayers. While I do not agree with many Seventh-Day Adventist teachings, the Adventists I have met try very hard to serve the Lord in the way that they believe is best.

It is good her father is taking steps to overcome his pornography addiction. I know public confession is popular in some other Protestant denominations but I didn`t think it was a regular practice in Adventist ones. He might have chosen to speak publicly (in front of the congregation) to help others know they were not alone in their struggles with sin. I hope he was not pressured into it.

For what it is worth, the Adventists I met are very kind people. Every family has their share of “disfucntionalism” and Catholics are no exception! And for what it is worth, I dated an Adventist who was one of the sweetest, most kind people I have had the opportunity to know.

But again, I am sorry you had such an unpleasant experience with the Adventists you have met thus far. They are our brothers and sisters in Christ and we should keep them in our prayers and try to be an example of Christ`s love to them. That can go along way in clearing up misconceptions. (Some Protestants I have met are surprised I own so many copies of the Bible, and that I read them! It was good for them to know Catholics read the Bible, because they had been taught otherwise!).

I will keep you and your girlfriend and her family in my prayers.

Sincerely,

Maria1212

Thanks, you are kind. Technically she is not my girlfriend now. We haven’t seen each other in a while and she goes to a public school now and see’s more guys. We e-mail as friends. But while we were girlfriend and boyfriend I never let the fact of her being a Adventist stop me from liking her.
