i’ve been a catholic my whole life and i’ve always been fascinated and touched by our teachings. for about eight months i have been with my boyfriend, who is a seventh day adventist. for the first 6 months, we’ve avoided discussing our religious beliefs. as we have grown more closer and serious, our religious beliefs is something we have started to bring up in our discussions. whenever i listen to him, it is so hard for me to continue on with the discussion. all i hear about is how they hate what we belief and the history of the catholic church. he doesnt seem to have any respect for our faith. he always claims that there are so many things that our church will not teach us. he always claims that the world is going to end, i know that being a catholic, i was taught not to treat others that way. whenever i listen to him about this topic, all i hear is hatred. other than religion, we get along great and i feel closer to him. remember that he strongly believes what he believes. its when we start talking about it, i begin to second guess myself. why exactly do they believe this way? why do they learn about the catholic church is such a negative light? and what should i expect in the long run?
