Went there, what is the thread title?
It’s now on page 5 and is called “WHY ADVENTISTS DON’T AGREE WITH THE NICENE CREED”.

416608 Views and counting!

SDA’s abhor the Nicene Creed for the specific reason that it violates the teachings of Ellen White.

I had MULTIPLE SDA’s pm me back when I was still active on CF stating that they…
…Rejected the “Doctrine of the Trinity” , calling it “the wine of Babylon”, etc.
…After I was banned from brining this issue ( and others ) up to the SDA’s I started the thread on Club Adventist.

An example of someone punching some holes in “the SDA Papacy stole the Sabbath & is the anti-Christ teaching.”

This video has 4 parts - some of it I obviously don’t agree with but for the most part this guy nails the SDA’s…
…And nails em hard!

If any are interested feel free to following the series.

To the one who asked how long I’ve been an Adventist, and where do I base my faith. I was raised an Adventist, I’ve grown up knowing what the Bible teaches my whole life. I would say that I have only been truly converted for about 6 or so years - meaning that I only began to take my relationship with Christ truly seriously since then.

My faith is based, as was Ellen Whites, on the Bible. I do believe that she was used by God as a prophet and in all my studies I have not found one place where she contradicts Scripture - and yes I even went through all those websites that say something like “101 ways EGW contradicts the Bible” or the ones that try to say she is not a prophet or a false prophet. What did I find, that they took her and the Bible completely out of context or misinterpreted both.
Hi Anne88,

I was the one who ask you those questions. Thank you for answering them! I really do appreciate you spirit in this discussion!

I think that basing what you believe on the Bible is a very good thing! I believe, and fellow Catholics here correct me if I’m wrong, that it was Saint Agustine who said that" ignorance of the scriptures is ignorance of Jesus Christ".

Getting back to our discussion of the sabbath at creation and before God delievered the Israelites, through Moses, from Egypt, I have a question regarding Mrs. White’s contradiction of the Bible.

I will post it in the next post, in the context of a comment you made on here in an earlier post.

God bless all!!!

As to why the Sabbath was mentioned at Creation, but not again until Moses. Adam kept the Sabbath and it was passed down from generation to generation
Hi Anne88,

I know that Mrs. White teaches this, but where in the Bible do you find that Adam and Eve kept the sabbath? They were not commanded to do so by God, and I can find no Bible texts that supoort this anywhere.

If this belief of yours is based on the Bbile, then please show me where the Bible says this.

God bless all!!!

The issue of the Seventh Day Sabbath comes down to worship - God’s way or man’s way. Salvation by God and His grace alone vs Salvation by works.

I find in the Bible a God who has always been and will always be the same. I find His unchangeable Law (10 commandments - God’s Law of self-sacrificing love - the foundation of His government). I believe that the texts used in the pages above do show that the Seventh Day Sabbath was kept from Creation. I love that God and His law never change. It is stable, consistent, and logical, something I can put my complete trust in.

God bless

Anne, do you believe that when the Bible says God created everything and it was perfect…
…Then God blessed the seventh day that it means.
…When the 7th day was over things became “less than perfect” and Adam and Eve had to wait for the next 7th day.
…Where everything again became “perfect”?

God created everything perfect, yes. I don’t quite understand the rest of what you said, unless you’re saying that Adam and Eve sinned on the day they were created, which I find no Scriptural support for.

But I did a study on Creation week, and it is beautiful how the days, and what was created on them, are symbolic of our Christian walk towards God, with the culmination being on the 7th, the Sabbath, Day. I love how God did nothing carelessly or meaninglessly. 🙂

Jesus was a Jew who spoke to Jews in a Jewish context…
…Jews don’t believe that Adam & Eve observed the Sabbath.
…Does this not give you cause to consider something may not be adding up here?

When the Bible says that God rested it doesn’t mean God was tired so God took a break…
…It means everything was perfect so God STOPPED creating things.
…God “ceased”.

Things didn’t go sour until Adam and Eve sinned and that’s when Adam and Eve were kicked out…
…Of “God’s Rest” ( not Adam and Eve’s rest but God’s ).
…That’s the real meaning of the Sabbath rest Anne.

Exo 20:8 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy…
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Eze 20:12 Moreover also I gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between Me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.

Eze 20:20 And hallow My Sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between Me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.

^These here are all Scriptural reasons for keeping the Sabbath holy.

The Sabbath was made for man. It is to remind us that we can do NO WORK to save ourselves, that it is only by the grace of God that we can be saved, by His work for and in us. That is the rest we guard - keep holy.

We don’t keep the Sabbath holy to be saved, but because it reminds us of Creation, and God’s Recreation in us - that He alone saves us.

Anne 88: What day was the Sabbath? in Genesis? How do we know with certainty that Saturday is the Sabbath? The days of the week were not written in stone so that we would know which day it was that God stared to create and what day God actually rested. Scripture does not say. So if you follow the Jewish law and rest on the Sabbath do you then start at sundown on Friday as the Jews do? I agree that the Sabbath is a day of rest but which day was it originally? Can it be any day? Why not become Jewish that way you could be sure that you are really observing the Sabbath as Jews do. I do not remember Jesus in the Gospels saying that we are to worship Him on the Sabbath, So I think that maybe you might have gotten it wrong about what the Sabbath really means.

Plus, when he tells the young rich man to follow the commandments, he starts mentioning them, not once does he say, Rest on the Sabbath. We can see it On Matthew 19:18-20, Mark 10:19-20; and Luke 18:20-21, if you read it not once does he say the Sabbath.

Hi Chero: I agree! Also the Ten Commandments the one that says Keep the Lords day holy, but does not say which day that is. Any thoughts about that?

In Matthew, The Pharises and Jew wanted Jesus death because he worked on the Sabbath. He said, my father works on the Sabbath (how do we know that he does, because thanks to him were alive) so I work to.

I see their point of worshiping God I really do, but to make it an oh, you see their wrong and their the Devil because they celebrate on Sunday is way too extreme. Besides, we give thanks to the Lord everyday, at every hour. Because everyday at every hour a Mass is being celebrated, and we have a beautiful thing called, The Eucharist.

Hi Chero: I agree!! However, my thought is what day was the Sabbath originally, The day of the Sabbath that is worshiped to day by Jews is much different then from before their exile to Babylon, when Jews worshiped on different days they thought were the Sabbath, the Sabbath day was not uniformly always the same day depending on where one lived. Did Abraham worship on the Sabbath? I rather doubt it and he is the father of all who believe in one God.

Yes we keep the Sabbath from Friday sundown, to Saturday sundown.
Sabbath, is and has always been the seventh day of the week.
There has been a weekly cycle since Creation,

Jesus working on the Sabbath, was not to earn money, but to help people and give them salvation, which is different to just working at an ordinary job for money for oneself.

My God is in control of this earth, and has always been and He has preserved His Sabbath. I believe this because He is God, and because the seventh day Sabbath is going to be a last day issue, according to Revelation. Jesus kept His Father’s commandments, including keeping the Sabbath Holy and He prayed that we would follow Him, and live as He lived. (John 15:10)

And there are sciptural reasons why the Jewish Sabbath was only a shadow of what was to come.

And there are sciptural reasons why the Jewish Sabbath was only a shadow of what was to come.
It’s God’s Sabbath, not the Jewish Sabbath, and yes, it is a shadow of the eternal rest that we will receive when Christ returns.

Anne88: The question I still wanting to know is the Saturday that worship the same day that God rested? and how do you know if the Saturday you call the Sabbath is actual the that day when God rested? I saw nothing from Adam and Eve to Abraham that tells one what day Saturday actually fell on. Also, if what you say is true then Jesus was correct in not wanting to raise from the dead on a Saturday as then He would have been violating the Sabbath by not resting as raising from the dead would be considered work. At least that’s what it sounds like to me.

Anne88,

Please, watch the following video which was produced by some Seventh Day Adventists…
…Who are gaining many converts from the General Conference of SDA to their position.
…If you are familiar with SDA Theology where do these guys go wrong?

Oh yes, this, it came to my attention a few months ago, and I was rather intrigued I must say. I had to study it out because it raised many questions in my mind. I found this a useful tool in my study.
