I seem to recall an article, maybe in the past year or so, that tallied sex abuse allegations/offenses by clergy. And the stats showed that what constituted abuse ranged from terrible sex crimes to verbal abuse. Anyway part of the point was to show how when an article says a priest was guilty of “abuse,” that it could fall anywhere in that range. (although people may naturally assume or visualize some form of rape)

Anyone know of a resource with those stats or articles that talk about how abuse includes verbal abuse?

I believe you may be talking about the John Jay report. Wikipedia says “The John Jay report catalogued more than twenty types of sexual abuse ranging from verbal harassment to [redacted]”

That report was commissioned by the “National Review Board”, by the USCCB. It is widely held to be accurate.

Redacting myself from commenting further,
