How refreshing after a busy day on the maternity unit to come home and read this ! I have enjoyed myself tremendously ! Y’all have made me laugh and I really needed to do that!
On a more serious note, I have to ask how many here STOP having sex after 50? Come one, y’all know you haven’t ! And oral sex, there’s another one…be honest…you have “indulged”…haven’t you? There are far more serious things to be worried about than sex. Personally, I looked forward to being 50 +…no more worrying about an “oops”

I can’t believe that this question has to be asked.
My goodness… when you are married, you should be able to have sex any time you want and in any way you both want.

Oral sex is immoral?, please. this type of intrusion is so wrong for any group… religious or not.

From what I can gather…
Catholics are against homosexuality because the purpose of sex is to produce children- so thus, only males and females are allowed to have sex.
HOWEVER, from this thread I am gathering from some of you that it is okay for those over 50 to have sex (or after menophaus). Is that not hypocritical?
After 50 they can’t produce children… so they shouldn’t be able to have sex!
No, that’s not the Church’s position. Married people can and do and are supposed to engage in the natural marital act. Every marital act does not result in pregnancy (and need not). But each act must at least be open to life.

Homosexuals do not engage in the marital act at all–that’s why they can’t get married.

What percentage of professing Catholics use artificial birth control? I heard it was upwards of 70%.

My wife would say, There’s sex after 50 ??? … that’s news to me !

There is, maybe not as often, but it’s still great,

My question is, Is there sex in Heaven ?

Offhand, I would say definitely yes. My reasoning goes like this, IF God would make such a wonderful experience like sex, here on earth, then surely He would have such a thing available in Heaven.

There is no need for sex in heaven at least in the way that we know it, because sex and marriage are precursors and signs of what is to come when we are in union with God. As Christopher West says, the idea of wanting sex in Heaven is equivalent to wanting to chew gum instead of having sex with your spouse. That’s how much greater our unity with God will be.

The reason the Church teaches the way it does regarding sex is that the Church upholds the truth that marriage is an image of what God has planned for us. That is why intercourse is the only licit domain for the ectasy of the conjugal union, because it is in this that a man and a woman give completely of themselves and truly image God because their love becomes so real to each other that it becomes life giving. If we wish to have oral sex as the goal, we are denying (though perhaps not intentionally) the essence of what God is, and that is complete self-giving love.

My wife and I are both over 50. We do not want any more children. She had trouble with both of her pregnancies and we don’t want to go through it again. Luckily, both of our boys are fine. The youngest is 17.
The question is, do we have to give up sex? Is oral sex wrong? We know contraception is out of the question. What can we do and still remain in good standing?
i will be 50 in December… i will have to get back to you!

For those of you who actually think any other kind of sex between husband and wife is immoral other than coital sex try this one:

One spouse has a hip and back disability. I suppose they are supposed to abstain from any kind of expression of love? What would Jesus say?

Teelynn.

p.s. some of these answers have been outrageously hysterical!:whacky:

I think Jesus might say…

“My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.”

Yeah, but with whom? What if you had been married twice?

And while you try to wrap your head around this one, try this: Our ultimate goal is full communion with God in heaven. Which suggests the following: That communion is going to be so good, that it may make people uninterested in sex.

I’m not saying that’s how it will be (and I’m definitely not suggesting that communion with God is akin to sexual union).

I will be sure to let you know in 32 years, 1 month, and 18 days. :whacky:

Though I suppose I’m putting the cart before the horse with my presuppositions
