I was reading somewhere that according to the Catholic Faith if you are married and
can not procreate having a sexual relationship with your husband is a sin. Is this really
true???

Somebody please correct me if I’m wrong, but I think that in order be validly married, there must be the possibility of having children, (that is, you must have sex at least one time, where there is at least a small possibility of procreation.) After that one time has been completed, and one or both partners become fully infertile, the marriage is in place and you can have a sexual relationship despite being unable to procreate. that’s my understanding, but I’m not married so I really don’t know.

I’m happy to inform you that you are both wrong.

One must be able to have intercourse when one gets married. There is no requirement that one be able to have children. The Church does not require every married couple to have children, it only requires that they use no unnatural means to prevent it from happening.

It is perfectly OK to have sex with your spouse even if children are an impossibility – otherwise why would the Church permit the marriage post-menopausal women?

Your wrong. If you are able to have children, you must be opend to having your sexual relationship procreate children in order to carry out your marrage vow of accepting all children that God sends to you.
My wife had cancer some 10 years before we met. When we were going through marrage prep, this was a disscussion we had with our priest, centering on the vow of accepting the children God sends our way. My wife wanted to keep it in as a sign of our openess to adopt (that we did 8 years later, 1 boy and 1 girl)
It’s a matter of love is to be life-giving and children are given life by sexual relationship

No…one must be “open to life” in each and every marital relation…and of course not use contraception…etc

If one has a serious reason …one may use NFP to avoid pregnancy by abstaining at fertile times…
