Can a married couple have acceptable intercourse if the woman uses birth control to treat a medical condition?

Specifically, a woman that has Endometriosis finds that birth control is the only way to effectively regulate her disease, and only after going through several kinds of birth control at that. Other treatments have been considered, but thrown out. Surgery is an alternative treatment but it is much more expensive and the disease generally comes back with a vengeance afterwards (so I have read). Pain medication is addictive and more harmful in the long term. Repeated pregnancy is sometimes considered a treatment but to do so would require opening the woman up to untreated symptoms (in this case, terrible physical pain described as utterly debilitating) or to risk damage to the body through a prior surgery or through strong pain medication (therefore opening the possibility of addiction).

Should she or her husband have to refuse sexual intercourse to the other individual because of this medication?
