Sex in heaven...

I personally wonder about free will and Heaven. Considering free will consists of being able to reject God and Heaven is eternal (ie it’d be impossible to lose salvation post-physical death) I’d imagine we’d be lifted of that burden, but I then wonder what it would look like.

It is a physical need. Yes, we will not die without it and indeed there are people who choose to be celibate, it is still a need for most people. Maybe you do not need it but it does not mean it is not physical. Maybe for you, it may be spiritual if it is not physical, though I do not know what a spiritual sex means, but generally, I mean generally, and you are excluded here since it is not physical for you, it is still a need for many people. There are people also who cannot control this need and so resort to physical violence in order to satisfy that need.

Being a Christian does not mean that we should deny this reality that in some ways it is a need and thus we desire it. I do not have to be explicit here in order to explain it, but it is certainly physical and biological for those who does it. Very seldom, if any at all, that people have sex just for the sake of it in order to make babies, as if it is like working. They do it because their biological nature desires it which needs to be fulfilled. However, it is within our control, as eating is within our control.

And just saying that it is a physical needs, does not mean I am sex crazy. A need does not have to make you crazy.

Physical needs do not mean you will die without it. A need is just a need.

In any case, Maslow would disagree with you too.

In Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, he categorized sex on the first level of human needs, together with air, water and food, as what he called Physiological needs. So it is a basic need for humans before they require other needs.

Our LORD said in the Cenaculum that HE would not again drink of the fruit of the vine until in the Kingdom of God.

So unless someone brought a bottle to Emmaus, there must be wine in Heaven :)🙂

Sex is simply for procreation - if we felt no pleasure we would not know what to do to procreate - people would not do it and mankind would of died out - its the pleasure that drives us to have sex . What would be the purpose of sex in heaven?

With all the sexual sins on this earth can’t see it being in heaven - sexual sin probably sends more people to hell than anything else - in my opinion

Every married person here said in there marriage vows - to death do we part - death ends the marriage vow - you are no longer bound at death to your vows or your partner.

You are in agreement with Fatima on sexual sin.

But I think the drive to procreation is distinct from pleasure per se. All animal beings carry out reproduction, even if the mentation that allows for pleasure isn’t there.

Think about guys or girls who are dealt a bad hand in life as far as finances, life situation, looks, social skills (big big big one), etc., rendering them unable to enter into a relationship and get married or ever find a partner. This is the greatest “spiritual” joy one can imagine, certainly, but then what? What about other aspects of existence? We’re in some kind of “nirvana” forever like in Buddhism, a “oneness” where we don’t exist anymore? There’s a reason God created woman for man, and animals, etc.

Jesus also says, in Revelation, that after he destroys this world, he will create a perfect one where humanity will be restored, and sadness, evil, etc. will be abolished from existence.

So I would assume that basic activities that humans enjoy like eating, drinking, having sex, sleeping, entering into relationships, having children, etc. will be a part of the New Earth too.

Pretty much nailed my thoughts on that one.

People who are on the outside looking in when it comes to a happy marriage and family will still be on the outside looking in when it comes to heaven.

However, we know with certainty some things that will NOT happen. In Heaven there is no marriage, no sex, no sin and no suffering.

That said, the best answer to this question I’ve seen was in a book called something like The Traveler’s Guide to Heaven. It compared the question to a pre-teen playing video games and thinking it’s the best thing ever, totally unable to believe there’s something more fun. 😉

The book made the point that we get a little hung up on the sex question (probably along with similar questions about all the things we love on earth, though–will I still have that in Heaven?) and we’re like children who don’t know much about life, and can’t see beyond our present moment and joys.

In the end, I can’t say I worry about or even care if there’s sex in Heaven. Whatever IS there will be joy and happiness.

There is no IF. There is NO SEX in Heaven. We know that.
