Sex in heaven?

Yes, I think you reason very well, but correct me if I’m wrong - there’s no official document that would says something on this i.e. nobody “really knows”.
You don’t think Jesus knows? You don’t consider Him an authority on the subject? 🤷
Moreover, I kindly 🙂 disagree and the Church would also. We’re created as male and female and we will stay like that in Heaven. Likewise, we will stay human. We will be human male and human female. We will not be angels. Angels do not have body. We will. I think Jesus wanted to say that also we - like angels - will see God fully face to face…
It is true that we will have the beatific vision, but He was talking about sex when he said there was no marriage (sexual relations) in heaven!

Matt 22:29-30

29 But Jesus answered them, "You are wrong, because you know neither the scriptures nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.

Remember the context!

It would seem a strange waste to resurrect the body and then to limit its use.

For those of you who said “no” what will the body do in heaven?

“The body is for the Lord” - that something better than sex may not be imaginable, is no proof that nothing is better.

Besides, we shall have glorified bodies - & souls to match them: & as the essence of happiness in Paradise is the perfect enjoyment of God :D, sense-based enjoyments such as we have on earth may well seem extremely unimportant - “body” =///= “body with senses”.

Besides, there is 1 Cor.15. 35-55 - especially:

Who cares! I am confident that when we finally realize what Heaven is, sex will be far from our minds!!!

Our glorified body will have everything necessary to worship God perfectly. 👍

1 cor 15:40 there are heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodys

When God created Adam and Eve they were naked and not ashamed.

Why? Because they had sanctifying grace. They lost that sancitfying grace when they first sinned and made garments for themselves.

Ever since–no matter how saintly any of us might have become we have had to suffer with concupiscence or inclination toward evil and have not had sanctifying grace.

That will not be the case in Heaven–we will once again have sanctifying grace which is an inclination towards doing God’s will and we won’t have concupiscence which is an inclination towards evil.

So yes there will be saints with glorified male bodies in Heaven and saints with glorified female bodies in Heaven but all will be perfect and there will be no inclination towards lust because it is evil or even towards the appetite for sex–which God created which is good for us now to populate the Earth when used in its proper place–marriage.

There will be no need for it in Heaven–it will be no big deal.

Our glorified bodies will have no need for food either–though it is possible that we might occasionaly eat at the feast of the Lamb of God–not out of appetite or need–but out of brotherhood and love for one another and for Jesus.

Jesus ate fish with the disciples after He rose from the dead and had a glorified body!

Our glorified bodies will be like Jesus’ glorifed body after He rose from the dead.

Jesus’ male glorified body will always be in heaven. Mary’s glorified female body will always be in Heaven–and when we have glorified bodies in Heaven we will retain whatever gender we have.

Gender will be as beautiful then as when God created Adam and Eve and said it was good!

God the Father and God the Holy Spirit will not have bodies because they are pure spirit.

Angels have angelic bodies which are different than human bodies.

And the Lion will lay down with the Lamb so there might be some animals with animal bodies in Heaven, too!

Well said Jerry Jet.

I see nothing to be ashamed of in nakedness. It is the connotations that is put on it that is repulsive rather than nakedness per se. I would see a human being much the same as I would see [or chose not to see] any other specie of animal.

But for practicality, it is not desirable to be naked, hence why the Lord commends us to ‘clothe the naked!’

Mt. 22:30 **For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. **

If we are like angels in respect of marriage, then we won’t be engaging in a carnal free-for-all. If there is no marriage in heaven, can there be sex? I tend to think that this verse means that all of our relationships will be “nuptial” in intimacy and perfection – but without material sexual relations.

Disclaimer: I haven’t read Kreeft’s article. I go do that now.

As one who discerned the priesthood but recognised the limitations of being unable to live the celibate life, I think that maybe our resurrected bodies will contain much the same as our mortal frame, but certain organs serving a supportive rather than a procreative function, thereby being somewhat diminished in size and sensitivity.

I suspect that beholding the beatific vision, any and all carnal desires would by comparison, simply take on their proper value and pale into insignificance.🙂
