Interesting you bring this up. I am currently reading the book, “High Risk - Children Without a Conscience”. It is about “unattached children” and how they become psychopaths. And you are right - it is nearly impossible to cure. The circumstances that prevent a child from becoming “attached” (normal bonding) basically form their personality and conscience or lack of it.

It is a very interesting read by respected professionals.
They warn that the early years of a child’s life are VITAL to have those attachments (especially to the mother) formed and if they are disrupted or skewed - the consequences in development are grave.
They warn society about the dangers of daycare and divorce and other disruptions in a young child’s tender years of bonding and attaching.
