Female orgasm can aid in conception, which I assume is a goal for you both. The conception is definitely approved of by the Church (;)), so I don’t know why female orgasm following male orgasm wouldn’t be.

Hello! I am a young man who is excited to be getting married in May to the love of my life. We are both Roman Catholic and our faith is the biggest things in our life. The problem is the church’s teaching on what is allowed and what is not was never really brought up in our household. It is somewhat sad, I even go to a Catholic college and I can’t find answers. To be honest before I post I do not want anyone to think that I am focused on the pleasure of the conjugal act. I am more looking forward to be able to just sleep with my future wife each night and be close. But at the same time as we get closer this is more on our mind.

So my question is what is allowed? I have seen some other questions on the forum but these somewhat confused me. I know masturbation is a grave sin and i understand and agree with those reasons but with my future wife is it wrong to use things such as vibrators before or after to help her climax? I know it is harder for women to get to that point (or so I have heard ha I am still a virgin) so is that allowed? Also what about oral sex?

THese in and of themselves when aimed just at the pleasure are obviously morally wrong but if they lead to the conjugal act is that ok? On the other post It also said it was not wrong to help your wife reach an orgasm if you have already and cannot continue. It said it was ok to use your hand or even a vibrator to get her to that point. Now to me that does not seem ok in any sense. Can someone explain this or give me references? I ask to have some sort of reference to back it up. I do not wish to hear opinions but teachings. Thank you so much for your help and God Bless.
They are unnecessary if you know what you are doing however that discussion is wholly unsuitable for a place where children may hear (or in this case read).

In the context of the marital act:

The wife has the natural right of reaching the three types of female orgasm, in the human fashion: she has the natural right of hoping those orgasms via the lovable acts of her husband. Thus, the husband has the natural obligation of means of provoking the three types of female orgasm of his wife, in the human fashion: he has to try to do “his job”, a conjugal active lover, in the human fashion.

The husband has the natural right of trying of provoking the three types of female orgasm of his wife, in the human fashion: he has the natural right of hoping of noting (seeing, watching, looking at, feeling) those orgasms via his lovable acts on her, in the human fashion. Thus, the wife has the natural obligation of means of letting her husband of provoking the three types of female orgasm on her, in the human fashion.

The simple coïtus is not very human: the reduction of the marital act like within other animals is a shame, is a insult to the human dignity, it is very awful.

The fact of being a passive lover and an active lover for each one with sexual cooperation, bilateral, mutual, reciprocal, equal and equitable (in the human fashion, with love, with charity and with tenderness), are the natural rules.

In the context of the marital act:

The marital sexual charity is a right, is an obligation and is a duty for each one of members of couple: to do, not to do, to allow to do, not to allow to do, to allow not to do, to give, not to give, to allow to give, not to allow to give, to allow not to give, to receive, not to receive, to allow to receive, not to allow to receive, to allow not to receive, to take, not to take, to allow to take, not to allow to take, to allow not to take, to offer, not to offer, to allow to offer, not to allow to offer, to allow not to offer, to be active, to be passive, not to be active, not to be passive, to refuse, not to refuse, to sacrifice, not to sacrifice, to say yes, not to say yes, to say no, not to say no…, conjugally sexually speaking;

Each member of couple needs to make a focus on the preliminaries, on the sensual foreplay, on the sexual preliminaries,* on all the body of the other.* The preliminaries are very human, they are acts of carnal love (the sexual cooperation in the human fashion). Each one is an active agent and a passive agent, in function of three moments of the conjugal act, in function of wills, in functions of periods of life, in function of all elements of the circumstance.

The fact of seeing the other, in the complete sexual emotion of the marital act, during the conjugal carnal love, is so good, is so natural, is so catholic, is so totally moral. It is a right of trying, it is an obligation of means, it is a duty of means, it is a right, an obligation and a duty *of letting to do the other on itself , in the human fashion, with a mutual / reciprocal / bilateral / equal /equitable sexual cooperation: *it is the conjugal sexual charity of the marital act.

Other questions for helping:

Do you - you and her - have the almost same view about the different languages of conjugal love (the five love languages)? Are you compatible about that? Are you almost on the same line about that topic? What is your level of potential compatibility concerning those five langagues of love? The fact of doing, a little bit, of the personology in order to evaluate the future compatibility of your personalities is very important;

Her intellectual approach about her female body, and about the body of man; your intellectual approach about your male body, and about the body of woman; In general the topics on feminity and masculinity (body, soul and heart);

Do you think of being compatible, you and her, intellectually speaking, with all corollaries, a priori, about the marital act?

The questions of spirituality, of religiousity, of needs and of the mentality about your future conjugal life: the conjugal life per se, the life of family, the religious and spiritual life, the working life, the leisure life, the cultural life, the educational life, the sportive life, the life of holidays…etc!!! The articulation of all that??? Do you have the same views, almost?

No I don’t find it excessive - it is all the other hairsplitters who solemnly declare that masturbation is wrong under any circumstance, (what, even to bring the wife to completion?), and other restrictions that would appear to be their personal opinion rather than the ruling of the church.

The members of the church are turning sex into a thoroughly rule ridden performance that is getting distasteful. 3 rules is enough, without getting into sub-clauses and corollaries.

So what if the kids have interrupted you for an hour or two, the hubby has climaxed before the interruption, and the wife would still like completion? Would a 55 minute gap be acceptable, but not a 65 minute gap? Does the poor woman have to wait until her hubby is able to get another erection and go for full sex again? OR can the married couple use their discretion and complete the session with the fulfillment of the wife? Without having to go to confession, feel guilt, or any of the other emotional manipulations that the lay people on this forum seem to want to pile onto them?

Do you remember how angry Jesus got with the Jews of his time, with their hairsplitting over every little rule? To glean some corn on the Sabbath while walking through a field, but running your hand over one corn stalk was as big a sin as spending the day working. They had got as far as deciding how many steps you could take after getting out of bed before you could wash your hands and face.

I feel that many people in the Catholic church are at the same stage of nit-picking as those Jews were. Lighten up!!!
I generally agree with you that people can get into endless hairsplitting and impose their own personal beliefs on other Catholics and turn sex into a “dirty” “rule-based” thing. Catholics are certainly free to have the personal opinion (and follow it) that ever manually bring a wife to completion is wrong, but they are not free to claim that that is church teaching binding on all Catholics (it’s not).

Sex between a husband and wife is a wonderful gift from God and should be experienced and enjoyed in a loving, self-giving spirit without guilt, or shame or being “scrupulous” about defining every supposed corollary of every supposed rule.

That’s why, in response to the OP’s original question, I tried to just lay out the three concrete “rules” that the Church has about sex between a husband and wife, which are really just concrete clarifications of the Church’s teaching that sex is designed by God to be both unitive and procreative.

With regard to your specific question about “how long is too long” (55 minutes, 65 minutes), like with most aspects of the wonderful business of living our daily lives in whatever vocation we are called to, the Church gives us general principals to follow, and it is up to us in our discretion and judgment to follow that as best we can. 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 60 minutes? There is no “right answer.”

However, I don’t think it’s really that big of a moral dilemma, anyway.

From personal experience, it certainly happens that during sex, the husband climaxes. For whatever reason, the wife does not climax and then one hour, two hour passes, and the subject comes up about satisfying her. If an extended time period has passed, and there is a question about whether “it is within the same context” the couples attitude can just be, let’s have sex again (i.e., “start a new sex act”).

Then, the husband can pleasure her with the intention of “completing the sex act” right afterwards. Often, if a husband and wife have just had sex two hours ago, the husband may not “feel” ready for sex again two hours later (just basic biology), but as long as the husband and wife go into with the intention of that happening, no problem. In many circumstances, even if the Husband does not “feel ready” for at first, going through the process of loving and pleasuring your wife physically will “get him in the mood again” and he will be ready again right afterwards. If, as sometimes may happen, he still just is not biologically able to for whatever reason, no problem. The husband and wife were open to it during that sex act, and is just didn’t happen. No problem, move on. There is no reason to become overly scrupulous or legalistic about it. As you rightly point out, sex should not be legalistic.

Sorry to describe in this such graphic, “legalistic” detail, but as a lawyer (and a convert), I at first felt like you did and found the Church’s rules to be complicated and hard to understand. In general I knew what the principles were, but there was not a lot of guidance on these specific questions that come up. After reading more about the Church’s teaching, I think keeping those three simple, basic rules (plus, the obvious, don’t insist on anything your spouse is not comfortable) in mind (also remembering that, as a wise priest told me, “with the intention of” is a critical part of the “rules”) has just removed the scrupulosity, guilt, legalism, of sex. In fact, from personal experience, the Church’s teaching in this area has really opened up our marriage, communication, and sex life in a truly wonderful and profound way.

They have to discuss on:

the natural moral order of the marital act, i mean about the material natural moral order of the marital act and about the immaterial natural moral order of the marital act: Who? What? When? Where? What for? Why? How? How often? How fast? How many times? The modus operandi? The passive agent and the active agent? The unilateral natural moral order of the refusal of the marital request and on the bilateral natural moral order of the refusal of practicing the marital act? The N.F.P. and the acception of serious or grave reasons? The issue about not requesting the marital request of the marital act? The articulation of ends of marriage? The phenomenology of the marital act? The conjugal and marital personalism of the marital act?

the morality in general: the modesty (the male garments, the female garments), the decency (the male garments, the female garments), the liberty of each one, the responsability of each one, the wrong acts, per se and always, and the wrong acts, only, in function of circumstance;

the equity and the equality between male and female, the education of daughters, the education of sons, the “true discrimination” between males and females, the misogyny, the misandry, the femininity, the masculinity…etc.

Is she honest with you? Are you honest with her? What type of female catholic is she? What type of male catholic are you?

All topics before the day of wedding have to be discussed?

About the marriage:

Does she want to be like a nun? Does she want to act like a nun? Do you want to be like a monk/friar/priest? Do you want to act like a monk/friar/priest? Does she wish a “conjugal monk” within her couple? Do you wish a “conjugal nun” within your couple? For her, what is a catholic couple? For you, what is a catholic couple? What is her primary (first) devotion? What is your primary (first) devotion? For her, what are the different aspects of state of spouse? For you, what are the different aspects of state of spouse?

What is her style of family life (morally speaking, socially speaking, culturally speaking, mentally speaking… etc)? What is your style of family life (morally speaking, socially speaking, culturally speaking, mentally speaking…etc)? Does she want to live in an isolation bubble? Do you want to live in an isolation bubble?

Actually, a priori, are you compatible? A priori, what is the degree of compatibility between her and you? Are you on the same line, her and you?

Other questions:

Is she a follower of Ronald Conte Jr’s theology (the morality of modus operandi of the marital act and Co)? Is she a follower of Colleen Hammond (Modesty and Co? Is she a follower of Dr Jay Boyd (N.F.P. and Co)? Is she a follower of Raylan Alleman (submissive wife and Co)?

It seems to be the prevailing view that the husband stimulating the wife into orgasm even after his own ‘finishing’ is allowed or even ‘required’.

Something I have serious problems with is the opinion of some theologians that it’s okay for the woman to masturbate herself into orgasm ‘in the context’. This doesn’t mean the husband touching her until she has an orgasm, it means her touching herself. This autoerotic part, as if being one’s own sexual partner and cutting off (not needing) the spouse is what I have issues with. Personally, as a man, I’d rather not marry at all than ever have something like that happen to me. Would break my heart or something. Feel free to try and convince me otherwise if you can, and I’m not claiming to have any sources on this, but I just can’t get over the auto-erotic aspect of that.

The modus operandi of the conjugal physical love of the marital act is very essential and very important for each member of couple.

Are you ready for learning with her? Is she ready for learning with you? Is she ready for being your teacher, your professor, your master, your schoolgirl, your student, your learner, your follower and your conjugal lover? Are ready you for being her teacher, her professor, her master, her schoolgirl, her student, her learner, her follower and her conjugal lover?

Will she be ready for being your spouse / wife what means to be your female lover, your mistress, your girlfriend, your female best friend, your female soulmate, your female beloved, your helper, your own female? Will you be ready for being her spouse / husband what means to be her male lover, her love master, her boyfriend, her male best friend, her male soulmate, her male beloved, her helper, her own male?

The fact of being on the same page between wife and husband is very important.
