Excerpts from the article:
DECATUR, Ga. - The 80-year-old leader of a suburban Atlanta megachurch is at the center of a sex scandal of biblical dimensions: He slept with his brother’s wife and fathered a child by her.
Members of Archbishop Earl Paulk’s family stood at the pulpit of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit at Chapel Hill Harvester Church a few Sundays ago and revealed the secret exposed by a recent court-ordered paternity test.
In truth, this is not the first — or even the second — sex scandal to engulf Paulk and the independent, charismatic church. But this time, he could be in trouble with the law for lying under oath about the affair.
The living proof of that lie is 34-year-old D.E. Paulk, who for years was known publicly as Earl Paulk’s nephew.
“I am so very sorry for the collateral damage it’s caused our family and the families hurt by the removing of the veil that hid our humanity and our sinfulness,” said D.E. Paulk, who received the mantle of head pastor a year and a half ago

the move it. Lately, sex scandal has hit our Protestant brothers and sisters.
Sex scandals in Protestant churches, including in charismatic churches, are nothing new. It existed before the recent Catholic sex abuse scandal, it existed during it and it continues to exist. So have scandals involving misuse of funds and other issues.

All religions involve people. People behave in fairly similar ways. 🤷

Well, it is posted in “non-catholic religions”…

Nobody is immune from sinful temptations and the Catholic church certainly does not have a lock on ministry/sex problems. Just shows there are plenty of problems in protestant mega-churches too. Certainly doesn’t surprise me.

Let’s hope and pray that the leadership of this church takes the proper actions and doesn’t try to dodge accountability.

Exactly, no institution is immune from this. Weakness abound regardless of religions beliefs.

I hope the mods close this thread. Ugh.
It gives us an opportunity to pray for them. I would not have known about it had manny not posted it.

I dont like seeing this happening anywhere, as I am sure manny does not either.

I think the point is that many anti-Catholics keep on hitting the Church for the scandals when they themselves have a lot of cleaning up to do in their own backyard…
I don’t believe that this is where the contention lies. Sexual wrongdoing of all kinds is everywhere and it is well precidented. The difference and of course the problem is how one recognizes the problem and resolves it or ignores it.

Of course it is wrong immorally. It becomes even worst if the sex scandal is done by spiritual leaders, who suppose to be a role model of their peers and friends.

And it gets even worse when the leadership tries to deal with it in a “hush hush” way.

Sex scandal is a society problem not a Catholic one, for those who insist sex scandals only hit the Catholic Church. To think so would be base on bias opinions.
Who suggested that it is only a Catholic problem?

No disagreement there. I know how this problem came into being but this isn’t about the Catholic sex scandal but the scandal found in the Protestant Church…
