While I would say that these are basically equal, the drugs are definitely the worse of the two since the fornication might be the misapplication of love, and love covers a multitude of sins.

There is no innocent party in either fornication nor drug abuse.
What? Did somebody say “party?” Woo Hoo! Where?

I believe all sins are equal. Either sin destroys the temple of GOD. Our body’s.

That is part of my point as well. It seems to me that people who have done more drugs than have sex generally take a more critical view of sex. While many times folks that have been more promiscous may think of drug use as a greater evil. My observation has been that our personal experiences tend to shape these views a lot of the time. Perhaps it is our eternal desire to rationalize our behavior that we must fight in order to follow God’s will for our lives.
Well I’ve never done any drugs but unfortunately did have sex with my husband before we were married. I’m not big on the which is greater thing either. But the one reason I would lean toward sex being greater is you have two people commiting a sin, and you are contributing to leading the other person into sin. In our case we used contraception so now there’s another sin. Ofcourse I’m sure one could argue there are additional sins added to drug use depending on circumstances as well.

I voted for both as equal.

If abused they can both cause great harm to a person or their loved ones, even to the point of destroying families.

Sex Vs. Drugs - Which Is The Greater Sin?
Seeing that there is no dispute here that both are sins, then I must again offer certain principles of Moral Theology:

That when looking to the degree at which one is culpable for sin, or of the severity of that sin, we must look at each person’s example on a case by case basis.

As such, there is no other way to properly answer this question.

One unconfessed mortal sin can and will land you in eternal damnation.

sexual sin is worse because (as paul said) you not only sin against your own body but against some one else’s body as well (that’s my paraphrased version).

i don’t think either is a sin.
some drugs for recreation can be used carefully and responsibly without any harm to the body or mind, so why should they be considered sinful?

as for sex, two reasons i often see for it being considered sinful are: a)wasting reproductive cells is sinful and b)sexual pleasure is only meant to be experienced when reproducing/is sacred

what i say to both of these things: a)wasting sperm is sinful? why, then, are millions of them used to fertilize ONE egg? and b)if sexual pleasure makes you happy, why would god want to deny you that happiness for ANY reason?
