sexual abuse by protestant ministers

it’s not just about abuse. or statistics. it’s about these Catholic priests, who are supposed to be Godly, pure, loving, chaste, and selfless shepherds, taking sexual advantage of children and teenagers, and then being shuffled from parish to parish by their superiors. generally no one going to the police, warning any of the parents, or responding with appropriate alarm and haste.

that’s the issue. it’s not abuse in general, it’s abuse within the Church, and the unique hypocrisy and horror of not only the abuse, but of how it was handled.
Excellent comment…The body of Christ should be the last place that should have the problem…Had churches handled this more aggressively. and put these people out of the church like was advised the Corinth church this wouldn’t be constantly popping up and damage control needed…This is for all churches that follow Christ, not just the CC…

yes. it breaks my heart and makes me furious at the same time to see Catholics respond with “well they’re just human, everyone sins, and look at how bad the abuse is in other sectors of soceity!”

Christians are not supposed to be like the world, or free to excuse themselves in sin based upon what the world tends to do. the world’s sexual abuse issues should have nothing to do with what goes on in churches, precisely because we are to be in but not of the world.

yes, we are still human, and sin. but we are also held to higher, nobler, stricter, and different standards than those who are in and of the world, and estranged from Christ. i think this is another aspect of the secular world’s fury against the Catholic abuse scandals which some Catholics fail to realize. it’s because the world recognizes that the Church should be doing differently and better morally than the rest of the world (even if the world not does recognize the authority of the Church) that the anger is as great and noisy as it is.

I was recently at a Civil War reenactment and the tent next to me was occupied by a couple… he was a cop and she was a director, or something like that, in a center that worked with rape and molested victims and they were also both Catholics… she told me that according to the FBI and Interpol stats that the protestants have as much, if not more, abusing clergy.
Why the attack on the Vatican by the press is for a different topic…

You are being quite UNFAIR Grace

First of all men are men… and everybody can fall. Saul was chosen by God as King of Israel, yet he too fell into sin!
Sure the clergy is expected to be holy, but not everybody is holy. Jesus chose Judas Iscariot as well as one of the apostles… yet even one of the apostles fell into sin!

Besides only a small minority of priests are guilty of such actions, is it fair to then portray all priests and the whole Church as guilty?

Second: by pointing the finger only at the Catholic Church you are committing a great sin.
You are practically saying that it is ok to raise hell for a pedophile priest, but a pedophile protestant or secular person should go under the radar?

Should we then ignore the bulk of sexual abuse and sexual abuse cover up in other churches and the secular world?

Shouldn’t the media give the same attention for ALL the abuses? Shouldn’t we protect ALL children, also those who are abused in schools, families, and other institutions?

What about prostestant abusers? Aren’t Bible Christians ALSO supposed to be holy?!?!

Do not protestants consider themselves als the Body of Christ?!

What about all the cover-ups that still go on in protestants churces, that have graver problems than the Catolic Church in this respect?!

I guess it’s easy to point the finger at Catholics… why don’t you take care of your OWN community first, before you so blatantly accuse others.

I think you and many other ‘bible christians’ are just sour to know the TRUTH about your own communites and try to still push all blame on Catholics.

What happened last year was a deliberate attack by the far left media to destroy the Catholic Church. Even a monsignor’s letter was re-written and exposed to the public. There were over 4,000 priests accused and over a thousand actually found guilty.

Yes the epidemic of sexual abuse in our country is on the level of actually atrocities…we now have the sex trafficking of even our own children, not just foreigners brought here under false pretenses, the public institutions have sex abuse and crossing of professional boundaries throughout the country. Then we have Hollywood having a movie on Kinsey, when in fact he molested orphan infants and children for his sex studies. America promotes the highest amount of pornography throughout the world.

Our children as young as kindergarten are having their innocence destroyed by sex ed and the promotion of different sexual lifestyles…sexual activity outside the bond of matrimony. All it takes is one relationship for many to be lost and never work to become chaste again.
