Need prayers.

My uncle died earlier this year and before his death went on record that he had been sexually abused. Not only this, but according to some of the things coming out it may have been one of the most severe cases I’ve ever heard of. Now members within my family are involved in a lawsuit. My uncle asked in his will that my dad would go through with suing the church.

While I’m trying to accept this, and keep focused on the fact that all I can do is pray in these situations, I just can’t reconcile how I feel the motivations of the lawsuit are out of greed. And am struggling with wanting to quit working for my dad as I strongly disagree with the lawsuit.

To make matters worse, I recently applied to the seminary and was denied acceptance. Not only was I denied acceptance, but was given a more severe rejection. I was told that I can never hold a position within the Archdiocese whether priest, deacon, teacher or ministry leader and it was made explicitly clear that they would never offer me a recommendation elsewhere. I understand the decision, however my pride gets in the way of allowing me to agree and causes a lot of frustration and anger over feeling that it is unjust. I think the two events mentioned in this thread have some correlation, however the majority of the decision results from my own personal inadequacies.

My faith is still intact by the grace of God, however I’ve been stumbling along for quite some time now. Apostasy has been the first reaction my mom has been having towards these things, however I won’t hear of it as that’s an even worse sin.

Please pray for myself and my family. I go to adoration for about an hour a night to ask for help.

My prayers are with you. It sounds like this is awfully hard on you. Were you given a reason why you were rejected for the seminary? It’s hard to believe that such severe rebukes come without reason. Maybe what you are feeling is that you don’t know what to do with the rest of your life. If you work with your family, see about getting a job somewhere else. That would ease that situation some. At least, it should. It may well be that your father misunderstands your position on this.

PATER NOSTER,
qui es in caelis,
sanctificetur nomen tuum.
Adveniat regnum tuum.
Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra.
Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie,
et dimitte nobis debita nostra
sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris.
Et ne nos inducas in tentationem,
sed libera nos a malo. Amen.

It’s hard for me to know exactly what the politics are within your Archdiocese. And I don’t know why they think you are unworthy of service within your Archdiocese.

But is there any possibility that you could join a religious order that would ordain you outside of the Archdiocese? For instance, you could try the Franciscans, Jesuits, Dominicans, or Carmelites – to name a few. And you could could live in a province that would not serve the Archdiocese that has banned you.

If God is truly calling you to the priesthood, I pray that the Holy Spirit guides you where you should be.

Amen

God has blessed you mightily by your faith in Him! Going to adoration is such a powerful thing to do and although at te present moment you don’t see results (or ones you want to see) you are right to remain faithful to His Church…not necessarily those IN His Church but His Church, trusting in Christ! Praise be to God! I am a convert and someone in my parish “warned” me that there are those I will be disappointed with in the Church. I told them that my conversion did not have anything to do with individuals within the Church but the teachings of the early Church fathers and Christ’s teaching himself to trust His Church despite individuals and their sins. (myself knowing I too am a sinner) So…be of courage and strength and persevere on Trusting in His Mercy and guidance. You are in my prayers.
In His infinite Love,

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

The Pope just recently apologized for the delay on the sex abuse scandal.

Are you saying that there is a connection between your uncle’s law suit and the hostile rejection you received from the seminary? Your Uncle and his tragedy has noting to do with your vocation intentions.

I would consider sending this letter to you Uncle’s lawyers. Here is another idea, send a copy of the letter to the Vatican, maybe to one of the Cardinals handling the scandal.

For the intentions of itsjustintime, that the Virgin Mother may offer her intercession at this time:

Hail, Mary! Full of grace, The Lord is with thee; Blessed art thou among women, And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us sinners, Now, and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.

You have a lot to deal with and I will gladly pray for your intentions.

Memorare

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Prayer of Trust in God’s Will

O God, early in the morning I cry to you. Help me to pray and to concentrate my thoughts on you: I cannot do this alone. In me there is darkness, but with you there is light. I am lonely, but you do not leave me. I am feeble in heart, but with you there is help. I am restless, but with you there is peace. In me there is bitterness, but with you there is patience. I do not understand your ways, but you know the way for me… Restore me to liberty, and enable me so to live now that I may answer before you and before me. Lord, whatever this day may bring, your name be praised.

By their fruits you shall know them. Love free this your child from the blindfold which prevents them from seeing you in all things

Praying that the Lord may grant you strength and guidance in this matter. Also praying for all necessary graces for you and your family.
