Hello all I am seriously bothered by a moral situation and am not sure what to do. I am male, a serious athlete who will most likely be playing at the collegiate level. However, a few times when training and exercising I have experience a seminal emission. I refuse any consent, of course, and pray during this these times. However, I am still very bothered and would appreciate some advice about what I should do to address this. Is my very act of training, knowing I am at risk for sin, sinful? Thanks in advance.

Its not within your control. Its not your fault. Its a bit like a wet dream.

Either way its outside of your control. In such cases its not your sin.

If in fact it is involuntary, then the previous poster is correct, it’s not a mortal sin. Mortal sin requires grave matter, knowledge, and consent. What exactly are you doing when this happens? (I don’t really need to know–just think about it yourself.) Are you certain you have to do this particular exercise or whatever it is in exactly the way that produces the stimulation? Can you adjust your clothing, your exercise equipment or your movements to avoid what produces this reaction? Are there any lustful thoughts in your mind at any time during or befoe this occurs?

Again, I"m not asking you to give us all the details, but just think about the entire process and be sure you are not “letting” it happen. And perhaps you can prevent it from recurring.

If this is happening without the usually accompanying physical pleasure, then perhaps it is a condition that needs medical attention. But I am not a physician, I’m only guessing, trying to offer you some suggestions.

The good news is: you’re asking the question and trying to find the truth. Good luck and God bless.

It is not a mortal or venial sin, since it is involuntary.
It is not sinful for you to continue your training, even if you know that this may occasionally recur.
