Only my opinion, but I don’t think their “lust for one another” was the source of their shame. If you woke up one morning in Times Square buck naked wouldn’t you be ashamed? Before the fall Adam and Eve were clothed in light, less tangible than denim, but clothed nevertheless. After the fall they were caught in the altogether, that was the source of their embarassment.
Not really sure how you can say that Adam & Eve didn’t entertain thoughts of shame pertaining to their nakedness. Before partaking from the Tree of Knowledge they knew NO shame about their nakedness and it is highly probable they had sexual relations in the past. In the aftermath in their disobedience against God; it was not from shame but Fear that was primarily on their minds. They knew not fear or shame before their disobedience because their hearts were bathed in God’s light. After eating from the Tree of Knowledge their eyes were opened and they were shamed by their nakedness because they entertained sinful lustful thoughts about their sexuality. Those of us Catholics with a conscious feel shamed and bear guilt by our own behavior when we entertain lustful thoughts about sex. It is our lower human nature which has absolutely nothing to do with that which joins the spirituality of our souls in union with God.
