I’ll try to ask this question as respectfully as possible: Is intimate behavior (other than sexual intercourse) between two married persons that causes sexual arousal and does not lead to intercourse or climax ever permissible? (ie: foreplay without climax or intercourse).

It depends on what you mean. Do you mean just making out and cuddling? If so, then yes, this is permissible. If, however, you mean manual or oral stimulation of the genitals, then no, this isn’t allowed outside of the marital act.

There are grey areas with this, though. If you mean to tease your partner during the day by touching them for a moment in order to say that you want to have sex that night, this is okay, as far as I am aware. But I don’t think anything as far as prolonged oral or manual stimulation is okay if it is not followed (Or proceeded) by the marital act.

I think in most cases, it is permissible, as long as the couple isn’t intentionally trying to stimulate themselves as a substitution for engaging in the marital act. That amounts to mutual masterbation. Sometimes foreplay can be extended for a long time before the couple gets around to the actual marital act. Also, sometimes couples intend to have sex, but are interrupted by life or are unable to finish for other reasons. It really is a question of intention.

Enjoy it while it lasts… after a number of years the only sex you will ever have,
will be in the theater of your mind…

Of course, it is fine…go for it

The Church is basically silent on this matter, at least insofar as for what is in the Catechism. Use your best judgment while understanding that you can’t fool God.

So if you’re trying to “get as close as possible and if something happens by ‘accident’ them so be it” that doesn’t work.

I’ve essentially asked the same question in a thread a while back and I thought there were some helpful responses, if you want to have a look at it there you go: forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=746990
I read the entire thread. Thank you for the link. Man, you took a lot of grief over that foot issue. But I understand where you’re coming from. I will check out some of the material relating to “Theology of the Body” on YouTube. It sounds like a great resource. Thanks again for the info.
