Sin .

That single word , encompass so many things ,
Causes of sin comes in every shade known to mankind .
But the result is the same .
What would you say is a cause of Sin …

Personally I think Boredom &. Frustration is 2 main causes of creating sin .

Just add one word for a cause , or even your thoughts on that word …
Thank you for any Contribution

Arrogance

Presumption–presuming even that we can do what we want, and that God will forgive us for it. We know that He is merciful, but what I am talking about is taking Him for granted, and presuming on His goodness. Doing what we want, and thinking that we can get away with it–that kind of thinking.

Ninth Commandment

Thou shalt not. Bear False Wittness

Personally I think this is a Huge Cause of sin ,

So many ways this occurs ,

People giving false testimony in Courts , work places , Family Envireoment ,

And it’s so easy to forget what we ourselves had done ,

Yet we just as easerly find fault with the testimony of others

I’d agree.

One of the smarter priests I ever met had a standard recommendation for the single person struggling with impurity: stay busy. Don’t sit at home in front of the computer all evening after work. Get out. Build something. Fix something. Learn something. Be around other people. Take up a sport. Study a language. Etc.

(Of course, this in addition to common sense stuff like “don’t subscribe to porn sites,” but that’s a bit obvious. 😛 )

Basically, if you stay busy enough, you won’t have as much time to do stuff you shouldn’t, and once you do get home, you’ll be far more likely to relax with a book/good show/whatever for an hour, eat your dinner, and get some sleep vs being sucked into the black hole of mindless web surfing.

I think rash judgement contributes greatly to this. But basically it is a general lack of charity in thoughts & words.

Also it’s exposing ourselves to the ‘grey areas’ I guess. Eg listening to smutty talk, gossip, uncharitable talk, watching films like fifty shades of grey & more, reacting to an offense instead of thinking twice etc, not fasting regularly & practising discipline, not prioritising charitable works for others on a regular basis.

In general there is one cause of sin: the will in failing to apply the rule of reason. Man sins through malice, passion, and ignorance.

I think this is huge, and is good advice for a multitude of sins.

Venial sins, causes… fatigue, hunger, taking on too many obligations, lack of prayer time, imperfections in charity toward God and others.

Mortal sin, not the cause but the result is…** complete enslavement**
