It isn’t part of the purification. The instituted acolyte does the purification during mass. After mass, the Sacristan washes the vessels to get them ready for the next day or next mass depending on if it is a weekday mass or weekend mass. We have a very by the book Pastor. This is the procedure at every Mass.
OK, now I understand. Yes, that I what I meant when I said that having lots and lots of chalices is not realistic in terms of containing the pandemic.

It was this was before the pandemic. There is now only one chalice used. Before the pandemic there were three. What I was trying to point out is that using paper cups would not be in keeping with what is ordinarily done. That not only is it not a noble material as you pointed out, but there would be no way of purification.

Have you been back to mass since the churches were closed due to the pandemic as part of the re-opening?

What was it like for you now that you have been gone for a while due to restrictions?

I cherished it even more, as I went back this weekend.

It was even more beautiful than before, as I was filled, finally, with the word of God, singing, and worship and of course, the Holy Eucharist.

It made me appreciate and love the priests, the staff, fellow parishioners, and the mass even more.

At one point, I was brought to tears as I remembered those who have died in the prayers, and also to have lifted up those in prayers who needed and requested prayers.

The homily was especially lovely and endearing, all about the Holy Trinity.

I wanted to give hugs, but they weren’t allowed, so I loved everyone in my heart.

How about you?

Yes just today. It was awesome , small group dictated by space and social distancing, and The Bishop and our newest priest concelebrating.
Everyone is on a roster system so I have to wait till my turn again.
Very cherished Mass

It was so beautiful and astounding that before Holy Communion was distributed, everyone chose to pull down their kneelers and to kneel in order to receive from the priests who were going around to everyone.

I over heard a woman whispering that it was more reverent to receive this way because of the pandemic.

@OurLadyofSorrows I think I already knew that you would cherish it, based upon your posts.

We do indeed have something special in the One True Church 😍

I’ve been to four churches in the last week and the atmosphere has been different at each. Everything from the priest having the attendees coming in one door and going out another, sitting only in spaces not roped or marked off, using hand sanitizers installed on the walls at entrance and exit, and having to stand on a special floor spot to receive Communion, to a different parish where there seemed to be no restrictions except there was no holy water, and three of the five people attending weren’t even in masks.

The Bishop was handing out communion and had the biggest beaming smile on his face. He brought it around the circle to each of us. I said amen and then thank you 😄

The new priest seems great , he comes from one of the Islands I think. It will be interesting to see how this time shapes these new young priests in their ministry.

Returned back to Mass on the 31/05, it was lovely return back. On that day had to register (contact tracing) prior to going into Mass.

Now that my country is down to Level 1 as of today (no new or active cases) everything will be back to normal well almost.

I feel so differently about everything…I haven’t returned back to my church for Mass because of my age…but can recall a time in my past of when I went to my church on one Saturday morning and went in…there were no lights on…but light was entering the stained glass windows and it was beautiful. I was the only one there and it was a beautiful, holy, prayful moment for me…so peaceful. This was before the church doors were forced to be locked due to vandalism! Now, I remain home wondering if and when I will be able to attend Mass again. I don’t miss the crowds…was hoping that there could be a Mass dedicated to us “old” folks…Amen!
