I’d like to hear stories of how your prayers have been answered in your lifetime.
Either answered very quickly or over a long period of time.
Was it the answer you hoped for?
How did you know it was answered?

I’ll start

This evening I was praying with my St Joseph Chaplet.

I was asking for St Joseph’s intercession to pray for my wife’s anxiety and grieving to be diminished. She has been grieving the loss of our son for over a year now and today has been especially tough. She was feeling useless and stagnant.

Halfway through my prayers, the Chaplet I was using broke and one of the chain links fell off. I was saddened and tried to fix it, but to no avail.

I usually keep my prayers private since my wife is a new convert and I don’t often talk religious habits with her, because she wants to “ease into it” slowly.
but something pushed me to tell her “hmm, my new Chaplet broke…that’s too bad.”

She immediately asked to see it, and went to work mending it. I could see how she had a sense of usefulness and purpose in her work, and I noticed so much stress and anxiety lift off her shoulders.

Her mood immediately changed for the remainder of the evening, and she finally rested easy that night.

It’s funny how prayers can get answered sometimes.
What are the odds that the very Chaplet I was using to to pray with would break, and her fixing it would end up being the answer we needed?

St Joseph, pray for us.

My mother came to confession with me after being away from the sacrament for what she said was 15 years. I’ve been praying for it for a long time, and I’m beyond relieved that it was answered.

I remember that as an impressionable 12 year old, I went to make a visit every day after school. I found it a source of peace and happiness just to know Jesus was there in the tabernacle. I would tell Him my problems and He would listen.

One day in the 7th grade, our teacher told us to do an assignment, but I found that my book was missing. I knew I had it but couldn’t find it. I asked Jesus what to do about it.

As I was leaving the church, I found that same book I needed but didn’t have. It was on the ground, kind of shopworn with missing covers, but it was usable. I took it home and did my homework, glad that I didn’t have to explain to anyone that my book was missing.

One of my kiddos had a very rocky start to high school and was following a rather questionable crowd.
Things are better for her now, she’s in a better headspace and has a nice group of friends.

And I remembered to give thanks, like the Samaritan leper (sometimes I forget, shame on me)

Now I have another kiddo following a questionable crowd, and I hope my prayers get answered a second time.

My nickname should be the, “White Rabbit” (from Alice in Wonderland. I was always stressfully late to everything. One day, late as always to my Hour of Adoration, I came into the chapel 💒 and knelt down in fervent prayer asking for forgiveness for being tardy. An overwhelming wave of peace came over me with the understanding that, “I (God) am always here, you are on my (God) time”.

Since then, I slowly let go of the frantic stress with being late. I was still radomly late, but with out the stress. As time rolled on, I seemed to be more on time. Currently, my children’s ballet company is challenging me to be 10 minutes early to everything; and I think I’m doing moderate on this challenge!

Lost objects (st Anthony ) and the biggie - being filled with the Holy Spirit after becoming a Christian 🙂

Years ago, I had left my abusive husband and had moved back with my parents. I had 30.00 to my name. I had to get a job and asked the prayers of St. Joseph that I would soon find one. I also said “Dear God, you know how much I need a job, please hear my prayer”. The next day, I felt the desire to visit the university where I graduated and where I worked as a student. I found out they needed someone in the library. I applied and got the job. I’ve been there for over 30 years.

Me and my coworker went to lunch - drove to a certain spot overlooking a lake -
ate and chatted for an hour - time to leave - bitterly cold day, by the way.
Car wouldn’t start.
Pal opened the hood - I knew he didn’t know that much about cars -
In the passenger seat - I said my prayer -
( now I don’t pray that often for quick and direct answers )
He came back inside the car and we sat there - ready to call our bosses -
( saying we were going to be late )
just then a tow truck pulled in - guy got out - friendly as can be -
“I saw your hood open - you need a jump start ?”
POW ! Car started - we offered him ten bucks but he wouldn’t have it.
I was surprised - at what transpired - but my friend laughed it off.

I gave a lift to an elderly parishioner and later he phoned to ask if I’d found his glasses in my car. I went out and looked and came back and told him no. He was a little distressed. I said a prayer to St Anthony on behalf of my friend from church and thought no more about it. A little while later I remembered and phoned him but he was out with a bad leg walking back to the church to look there. I was concerned and so I said a prayer to Our Lady and asked if She could help him.

After while I thought I’d take another look in the car and because I’d already looked on the floor behind the passenger seat I didn’t immediately look there again and instead I fished around in the crease of the passenger seat. My fingers touched something of quite some size and rectagonal and I fished it out eventually. I’d had this car for about a year or more and what I fished out was a very large metal key fob with a poem on it to…Mother. I was surprised. I looked down behind the passenger seat again and there was the glasses case in a dark recess!

Thank you Holy Mother. Amen. 😊

Note: I just finished writing this when I noticed a ‘like’ and when I checked the following post had been liked elsewhere.
‘I often think it’s a shame that we only think of St Anthony of Padua in terms of finding things, he was such a great saint by all accounts.’
Ave Maria. Pray for us St Anthony. 🙏

Here’s a favorite story I heard from an uncle.

He was in the middle of a lake with his brother (or friend maybe?) and it started to rain, badly.
They were taking on water and would not make it home, they began to sink too quickly to get back.
As they were floating in the water in their life jackets, one of them suggested praying for St Christopher’s intercession, as he is the patron saint of safe travel.
Out of the stormy mist, a boat appeared. They were brought on board, given warm blankets, and a ride back to their dock.

The story seemed like a great coincidence until they saw the boat that rescued them pulling away. As they stood on the dock and watched the boat disappear back out into the lake, they saw the name painted on the back of the boat, it was called “St. Christopher”

This was in Northern Minnesota in probably the 40s or 50s.

God Bless you.
well I didn’t know in words what I was praying for when I was 7.
But one night I awoke with a peace beyond I can describe.
I walked to the window, and saw a cross made by the condensation
on the window or mist outside over the moon.
I didn’t hear any words; but I felt enveloped by The Love of God;
and sensed being comforted that everything will be well.
without giving my life story;
recently that memory and two dreams I had in my life’s journey suddenly
flooded into my mind.
The same peace enveloped me. And I sensed, like the poem ‘Footprints,’
so many times The Lord Jesus Christ carried me through so many
times when my walk with him was not very good.
The blessed assurance, the joy of salvation increased dramatically
in me. Covenant love of God and others increase much more.
And I sensed The Lord Jesus telling my heart; I told you when you
were 7, that all would be well.
The Blessing of The Peace of Christ overflowing in joy be with you.

I recently was looking for a new job. Without going into too many details, I had a sense early on that God was sending me to a certain company. The problem is that that company took about six months worth of time interviewing me, and I was concerned that maybe I had misunderstood.

As time wore on, much of what I found in Scripture about prayer was just the call to perseverance, so I would frequently open up prayers about the job with something about how Jesus commanded us to persevere. In time, it was the obedience to that that drove me more than any expectation that I would get the job from persevering. In fact, the night that I finally got the call regarding the decision, I started the Rosary by lifting the job up as an intention but telling Mary that I felt foolish for doing so. By that point, the company had been silent for a while, so I feared the worst. However, after the first decade, I got the call telling me that I had got the job.

Granted, there were still some bumps on the road. I didn’t get the job I originally interviewed for, which contributed to the length of time, considering I had to redo the process with a new position. I also didn’t get the location I originally wanted. However, given the circumstances, I’m pretty trusting of God at this point that He has a plan for both of those.

Saint Anthony always helps me find things when I recite “Tony Tony look around, something’s missing and can’t be found.” 🙂

He also ALWAYS finds me a parking spot.

Either answered very quickly or over a long period of time.
Was it the answer you hoped for?
How did you know it was answered?
I was so enslaved to lust when I was younger that I was despondent. I laid awake many nights, had bad dreams, was absent to my wife and family. Just oppressed by sin in a bad way.
One night I just pleaded with God to have mercy on me. I didn’t know what to ask for, I just begged for mercy. And the rest is a long story, and a joyful struggle that is still ongoing.
“Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me!”

God answered that prayer and continues to answer it in a powerful way. Sometimes the answer is gentle and peaceful and comforting, and sometimes it is like jumping off of a cliff blind. But I know in all circumstances He will suffice.

I grew up poor but had never prayed for anything material for myself. I wanted to go to grad school but I could not get any scholarship. I was working my first job and due to intrigue and jealousy by others, I was fired. The job market was very tight. I prayed for material help. Soon after, I got a scholarship I applied for even though I had been turned down previously and the award date had passed. I started grad school 2 weeks late but was overjoyed. Looking back, it was a turning point in my life, because many good things came from that point on. I am and will always be grateful to the Lord.

Amen.
Trusting Jesus Christ and The Power of The Holy Spirit;
burns away every addiction.
He renews the mind to wholesome thoughts;
burning away rationalization, justification of welcoming impure thoughts,
and instills confidence that He overcomes all presumption and despair.

Jesus I Trust in You. Amen.
