Thanks for the suggestion, Nita. I think it’s an excellent idea. Would you like to start the thread? I’d gladly participate from time to time, but unfortunately I don’t have enough of it to lead a study just now.
I wasn’t suggesting you start a study! Just a thread like the one you opened here, only limiting it to one book of the Bible rather than all of Scripture. (Or were you intending this thread to be a study of all Scripture?)
Also, that it should be in the Sacred Scripture forum - not the Apologetics forum. The Apologetics forum is meant for explaining and defending our Catholic beliefs and interpretations of Scripture.

We can’t have a discussion if the only criteria we follow is Fair Lady’s.

She has made it clear that the whole of the faith is not in her field of interest and I guess learning about the Biblical basis of Catholicism isn’t either.

Since she is reading only part of the Bible (she is after all missing those very important books) how can we possibly have a full discussion?

I think it’s possible. Actually I know it’s possible because I had a Protestant friend and we often shared Scripture insights without it turning into a debate.
I don’t even know if Fair Lady was looking for a discussion so much as just a thread where people could post insights and joys they received from Scripture passages they happened to be reading that day. Maybe I’m wrong and she wanted discussion/critique by others of the insights that people would give.

I realize the Sacred Scripture Forum is listed under the Apologetics category, so perhaps that isn’t the right place for such a thread either. Maybe the “Spirituality” thread.

I don’t have anything against leaders reading and teaching from the scriptures. One question for you - do you ever read the Bible on your own and come to an understanding of what you are reading?
Do you?

Yes, of course. However, I do also benefit from the good teaching of preachers/teachers. However, if anyone teaches/preaches something that is not in, or is against what scripture says, I will hold to scripture over the teacher.
