I was out with family friends last night. It was an OK time. However, often they will talk about their problems. I try and show sympathy. However, there is a lot of sarcasm in the group and often people will take jabs at one another. I think the way these people survive in the group is to dish it out.

Personally, I can not dish it out like do. It was never in my nature to take cheap shots at people. I am not claiming to be a saint. I suspect one of the gifts God gave me is to take people’s feelings seriously and not make fun of their problems.

Here is the problem. I am SICK of always listening to THEIR problems with never getting a chance to share mine. I am sure if I was to talk about my problems, they would let me hold the floor for a while. However, I also know a lot of sarcasm would come my way and not nearly as much compassion as what I need. I also know nothing would be kept in confidence. I don’t think these people are gossips out of malice. I just think they are open and clueless to the fact some people are private.

So I am going out with them again tonight. To be honest, I am almost dreading it. Mainly because I have not worked in a year and I had an interview a couple of days ago. I really think I could be happy at this job and my hopes are up real high. I know if I don’t get this job, I will be devastated and honestly after everything I have been through, I don’t have it in me to take one more disappointment.

So, I am really not sure what to do. That’s my vent for now

I think it is time you found some new friends, ones that don’t attack one another with sarcasm and jabs. Friends that CARE about your personal situation and can show that caring in ways that make sense to YOU. Friends that you do not feel afraid to share your life with. Friends that treat each other with kindness.
