Sharon says U.S. should also disarm Iran, Libya and Syria

By Aluf Benn

Haaretz

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said yesterday that Iran, Libya and Syria should be stripped of weapons of mass destruction after Iraq. “These are irresponsible states, which must be disarmed of weapons mass destruction, and a successful American move in Iraq as a model will make that easier to achieve,” Sharon said to a visiting delegation of American congressmen.

Sharon told the congressmen that Israel was not involved in the war with Iraq “but the American action is of vital importance.”

In a meeting with U.S. Undersecretary of State John Bolton yesterday, Sharon said that Israel was concerned about the security threat posed by Iran, and stressed that it was important to deal with Iran even while American attention was focused on Iraq.

let’s pray the usa and britain stay out of the countries mentioned, it would lead to massive bloodshed sure we can defeat them with military might but stabilising the country is a different matter, how do you contain iraqi , iranian, and syrian insurgents with just the us and a couple of countries lending a hand?

I suspect a lot of people are also concerned about the security threat posed by Israel!! A nation that denied having nuclear weapons until exposed by Benjamin Vanunu. Talking of freedom why is he still under arrest even though he has completed his sentence under Israeli law?

It would seem that Mordechai Vanunu violated the terms of his parole.

Just as I suspected. It seems this whole “War On Terror” thing is really a cover for Americans to do all the dirty work for Israel.
In my humble opinion, it’s time for America to worry about Americans first, and let Israel fight its own enemies.

The quickest way to put an end to this “War On Terror” is to stop pandering to the Israelis.

Interesting article, sounds like the Israeli government is long on memory and short on compassion. Not the best mixture for hope in future talks with the Palestinians.

ps. got half way down the road to lunch and suddenly thought, “Idiot, it’s Mordechai, not Benjamin”.

Great, lets kick over some more stones and see what comes crawling out.

You’re a fan of Dickens, wabrams, are you?

What’s your thoughts on “Oliver Twist”?

I thought that Libya had agreed to let weapons inspectors in and to destroy whatever wmd’s it had. Apparently Kadafi (sp?) does not want to go the way of Saddam.

Cheers

From the article:

Bolton said Syria would get a chance to prove it was behaving in a way worthy of the international community and that dealing with North Korea had not been pushed aside, but postponed.
Bolton said the United States was striving to get a new UN Security Council resolution regarding Iraq and that the result of the vote would affect the U.S.'s relations with Western Europe and Russia, after the war in Iraq.

Gee sounds like negotiations and diplomatic relations to me - isn’t this what all the bleeding hearts are always recommending?

We’ve been reading for weeks about Iran trying to become a “nuclear” power and how it’s being pressured not to - I don’t know about the rest of you, but if a missile comes my way - I’m not going to stand around and try to discern if it was launched from Iraq or Iran. The President at the beginning said we were in a war on terrorism - I understood that , and I think most sensible people did.

Others here need to quit blaming the victim - when people are blown up in their pizza parlors at bus stops - and at checkpoints, deal with those spreading the terror not the victims. If the terrorists cease, so will the terror.

Israel would probably be exterminated without us, just as the European Jews would have been exterminated by Hitler without us. It’s one think to be someone else’s attack dog, which we shouldn’t be, but it’s quite another to be a force to protect the innocent–some people say “why us?” but it’s because with our power comes responsibility.

Tyranny anywhere threatens liberty everywhere. Terrorism anywhere threatens innocents everywhere.
