Simple, take a look of Martin Luther. The RCC did gave him a consultation and a chance to repent (I do not disregard the wrong things that the RCC did at that time, but not wrong dogmatic teaching).

Take a look of Julia Kim in Korea. She claimed to witness the appearence of Mary and got the wounds ala Padre Pio. After a while, many visitations are conducted using her bother’s travel agent. The local Bishop (I don’t remember the name, but I can get it later on), gave a warning after sensing an economic reason behind those apparations. She refused to back-off, and the Bishop gave the excommunication.
Another thing also in Surabaya, Indonesia. A guy named Thomas claimed that his statue of Mary cried blood. He claimed many things which at the end benefit him financially such as selling a curing honey from his home, selling a special rosary in which he claimed the world will experienced total darkness at the end of year 2000 except the one who say the rosary sold by him. He died on an sudden death (with no proof of poisoning whatsoever) and still be responsible for large sum of money intended to build a church, but gone nowhere. The Local Bishop also gave the excommunication after giving a hearing but disregarded.
