Hello

Shiatsu massage is morally illicit. However I presume a massage chair which has a shiatsu setting isn’t wrong to use! After all it is not a human trying to tap diabolical energy into me! Sorry if this seems obvious. I just wanted to be clear as I take my faith seriously

Why do you say shiatsu massage is morally illicit? People can give that type of muscle/ligament massage without following any ancient eastern beliefs.

I have read shiatsu is not morally acceptable on the ‘Women of Grace blog

“Bodywork such as Reflexology, Shiatsu, Polarity Therapy and massage involving crystals or stones should also be avoided because these too are based on the manipulation of an alleged energy.”

I think you’ve been misguided. Any Catholic can have a shiatsu massage in good conscience… in fact, I think I’ll schedule one for later this afternoon.

Anyway, onto the original point, the machine is just a machine with doohickeys presssing into your muscles.

Don’t get doctrine from The Women of Grace website, but from the Catholic Church.

Shiatsu is massage therapy nothing more and the Church does not condemn message therapy.
