Shingles...Ouch!

I was diagnosed with shingles a few days ago and ask for your prayers for a quick recovery. I applied for a paraeducator position in the school district for special ed preschool position and will hear back after Christmas break.

I am concerned this could be a problem if I am hired. The interview went well and I ask your prayers as well for God’s will to be done and my ability to accept it. The interview went well and it would good to be employed again.

I will definitely pray for you…if the shingles is causing itching or pain then ask the Dr to prescribe some sort of anti itch cream or a cream that has a mild anaesthetic numbing ingredient…

I’m not 100 percent certain on this so you will have to ask a Dr but I’ve read shingles can be contagious to those who haven’t previously had chicken pox…so if you would be working with young kids who haven’t had chicken pox yet then maybe they could catch it…you need to ask your Dr about it though
 
oh Mary I am sorry to hear you have been diagnosed with shingles just as you are applying for a position with the school district. that is bad luck! praying your case of shingles will not be severe and you will have a quick recovery.
 
For those of a certain age who had chicken pox in their childhood and have not had the shingles vaccine, GET IT! It is not 100% effective, but it does drastically improve your odds of avoiding this debilitating condition.

Mary, you have my prayers…every day! My mom has had them–twice. The second time was due to her immune system being compromised. And God bless you for the job you applied for. It takes a special person to apply for that job and you are obviously that person!

a woman told me she lost her hearing in one ear when she got shingles. I don’t know if that is normal or not.

Shingles attacks the nervous system, so it may very well have attacked the nerves in her one ear.

I believe there is an anti-viral drug that boosts the immune system to fight off the virus. Sadly, for my mom, they were incredibly painful.

I had shingles in 2008. The blisters can last 21 days or more. The pain can be lifelong, though that is rare, but why take a chance? Go to the doctor immediately, a clinic if you have to, and get an antiviral medication. I did. I can’t imagine how terrible the pain and blisters would have been had I not had antivirals. If you wait any longer, it will be too late for the antivirals to help much.

Hi everyone, thanks for the prayers for my job opportunity and recovery from shingles.

I did go to the Urgent Care immediately when I saw the rash so thankfully I have been on the antiviral med since 12/21. I also have pain meds but it’s still painful. I agree with the poster noting it might be a good plan to get a shingles vaccine if your family Dr. advises to. I have never had the vaccine because I am younger than the usual age to receive it

I am fortunate I did get treated early but even so it’s painful so I appreciate also you prayers for pain relief…

Prayer for a Miracle

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from
the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal MaryT777. You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into MaryT777’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen
