I dont quite know where to post this so I hope the moderator will move it if need be.

I was out today and walked near a man who was talking about the weather.
I spoke about it to him and he ask me who that was pointing at me… when I realized he meant on my crucifix I replied “Jesus Christ”
He then replied “no” he is number one and flipped the bird!!
I was shocked and a bit frightened. I got away from him immediatly.
After I regained my composure I felt a deep ache in my heart concerning this person and said a prayer for him.
I still feel a sadness…
What would you have done?

Against that degree of hostility you couldn’t have done much other that you did, except to apologize to Jesus for him and to pray for the man as you have done, and whenever you think of him…and others who feel as he does.

May God give you a special blessing today

I agree with with Trishie you did all you could and you did it right 👍

Ty, it was an upsetting experience.
I feel very bad for this person 😦

I would have asked him what in the world he meant. Makes no sense to me.

I agree you did the best thing you could…

One thing you might consider - without being “spooky” sounding - sometimes for whatever reason there can be a spiritual “zinger” for the bad in something someone says or does toward us. The transaction goes beyond just the physical, mental or emotional level to something deeper that can actually wound us spiritually, because it has more than just a human component to it, tho the person speaking or acting may not be aware of it, or even believe in such a thing. This incident certainly seems like it could be possible since the response was so disrespectful of Jesus, but not necessarily so. I only mention this in case it continues to bother you and upset you, in which case you may want to ask the Lord to heal you of anything out of the ordinary that may have harmed you in this situation. We DO have real spiritual enemies out there… Praying for this person is great because whether or not they realized the seriousness of their response, they surely need the Lord’s love in their life.

May our Lord bless you!

agree, what a bizarre thing to say to someone who is just commenting about the weather, I probably would have suggested he go an find medical treatment before someone with less patience for stupidity cracks him in the mouth.

Oh yeah, I have had someone tell me I was #1 accompanied by that gesture, though it was in jest. This guy on the other hand . . .

I hope I would JUST say in reply - May God forgive your foolishness and walk away

I probably would have just walked away without really thinking anything. Don’t get me wrong, I’d be saddened, but I’m actually really used to comments like this. Have you been to college recently? When all is said and done, God will take care of them in an appropriate manner.
