I am a Protestant Christian beginning the process of converting to Catholicism. I can hardly wait to partake of the Eucharist;although it will probably be a long time because of waiting for my annulments. I look forward to becoming closer to Jesus Christ by experiencing substantiation during the Eucharist. So put me as a non-Catholic believing in substantiation! 🙂 I cannot believe that poll! I would have thought that most Catholics would experience substantiation while partaking in the Eucharist. :hmmm:

Christ is there in the Eucharist, make no mistake about it. This is clearly revealed to us through scripture and tradition. The supposition that half of our priests do not believe this just does not match with my experience. If someone said 50% of our priests have experienced doubt regarding transubstantiation, I would listen. However, I reject the premise that half don’t believe.

Our whole problem boils down to a lack of belief in sacramental grace. The Church makes us holier through the sacraments; she properly orients our relationship with God. We then are called to act according to God’s will. I sense that many of my fellow Catholics do not believe the Church offers this to them. It saddens me. If we all had a little faith in this regard things would be a lot different…a lot better. That’s my perspective, take it for what its worth.

Christ’s Peace,

TJD

Maybe all the priests surveyed are from the “Married Priests” website…
