I’m looking forward to using these during the day at work, when there isn’t time for longer prayers … just take a quick breath between tasks and pray one of these. 👍

Short Invocations

Which I find this variant off helpful-

Gentle heart of Jesus I trust in you
 
I use a lot of different ones - depending on my mood and my needs.

One I’ve seen and love is based on John the Baptists words in the Gospel - ‘Lord, that you might increase and I might decrease!’ (John 3:30)

And I like to adapt ‘Father into Your hands I commend my spirit’ to reflect whatever people or causes I want to pray for - ‘Father, into Your hands I commend my work today’, ‘Father, into your hands I commend my family and friends’ and so on.

The one I usually use is: Merciful Jesus. Of course that’s not the only one I use. How about, “Lord have mercy on me, a sinner.”

I love short invocations like this, probably because I’ve got a short attention span. 😃 My favorites are, “Sweet Heart of Jesus, be my love!” and “My Jesus, mercy!” which St. Gemma Galgani is said to have repeated to herself often.
