Try these frequencies at these times:

Frequency Time
5825 mhz 0000-1300 UTC

9955 mhz 1300-1600 UTC

13615 mhz 1600-2200 UTC

9975 mhz 2200-2400 UTC
I believe those ares the old frequencies and times. 5825 was vacated for use by the government.

Hey all you HAMs and Wanna-bes,

Good to see the activity here. I still want to start an HF Catholic net, as I posted on another thread. Anyone interested? I have had some lively discussions on 80 meters (3872) lates with some Sola-Scriptura (sp?) folks. I would welcome some back up.

Stan 👍

Please do not post personal identification call letters here.

I am not a ham, I went through and deleated what I thought was a personal call sign, if not, my apoligies.

Please self-edit before submitting your posts.

God Bless

Several other callsigns made it on this thread, including one whose username is a callsign. Not all were edited out, only some. What are the criteria for editing some out and not others? What policy/rationale is involved here?

thanx

I have my tech license but don’t do anything with it. I’d rather listen than talk so I prefer SW listening. WEWN and the WWW are the only way I can listen or see Catholic programming.

Is there any way to incorporate a squelch feature on a shortwave? One of the things I hate about my radio (Becker Mexico) is that when I scan, it stops on lots of signals that are just static. Same thing with regular AM. I always wish I had a squelch dial like are found on most CBs.

I am thinking about getting a shortwave radio in order to listen to EWTN’s radio broadcasts, but I know virtually nothing about shortwave radios. Can anyone tell me what are the basic features I need in a radio in order to pull in EWTN’s frequencies? For example, a certain number of bands or megahertz? I’ll be grateful for any advice anyone can offer. Thanks!

I would get a complete coverage digital display SW radio to ensure that you can receive their broadcasts no matter what frequencies they change over to. Many Grundig or Sangean (and even Radio Shack products which are likely still Sangean in another casing) products will fit the bill quite well. Really, if you have that much, more will depend upon your location and antenna than anything concerning quality reception.

Hello, all. I’m a Newbie whose had a shortwave for years but can’t seem to pick up EWTN. Any advise? Thanks & God bless!

I’ve never done anything on amateur radio, but I have been known to eat a ham sandwich while listening to the radio. Does that count? 😛

We live in Alabama, far enough from the transmitter so that the ground wave is kinda weak, and too close to catch the first skip. So I get my EWTN radio from Sirius.

I have a shortwave antenna reel. It really improves my shortwave reception. You clip one end in near a window, the other end goes into the antenna jack of the radio, If the radio does not have an antenna jack, connect it to the radio antenna with alligator clips.
Or plug it partially into the earphone jack,
