Should 2 Catholics get married in a non-Catholic Church...?

My wife and I got married in a non-catholic chapel. We are both Catholic, but her whole side of the family is not. They were not thrilled about her becoming catholic. The chapel was however, a beautiful place (designed by Tiffany himself), and we did have a priest perform the service (not a full mass, just a nuptial service. We thought that would be easier for her family to take). Everything was fine, and at the reception we invited everyone to attend mass with us the following morning. We did need a dispensation from the local bishop, and the wedding was recorded at the parish that covered the territory of the chapel (so make sure the local parish knows).

For what it is worth, now I wish we had got married in a Catholic church, and that’s what I would do if we could do it over. I guess for me, having the tabernacle there is the main thing.

Perhaps obediance is the most important thing in our faith. There are Churches more beautiful than that one. Remember why the king left the Church… remember what he did to his wife… and you are right – no tabernacle…

Blessings,
Joanie

King’s College (including the Chapel) was not built by Henry VIII, it was built by Henry VI: A Catholic. It would be wonderful to have Catholics married by a Catholic Priest at a Catholic Mass in that Catholic building.

I think that the Sistine Chapel is more beautiful! It’s called the Chapels of Chapels! But beside that - without the Tabernacle the point is moot.
