We have never seen anything disappear or come into existence. The only thing we have ever observed is change. Change from grass to cows, sunlight and CH2 and nitrogen into plants, etc. etc. No human being has ever, and I mean ever, seen something created from nothing.

Respectfully,

Tor
Created from nothing??? How about a politician? 😛

Well this would be another debate, but… our money being not backed by anything thing is created out of nothing! Or atleast out of thin air.😉 :rotfl:

Sure, let’s see what you have in mind.
Actually it is amazing I should need to give an example. I will give you several since you need them, but first I will recommend you watch the play ‘Sound of Music’ and report back with thoughts. Got a hint? 😃

Deacon:

My understanding is that people are the most complex of the creatures we see around us today, mostly because of our brain.

I believe humans developed from simpler life forms over time. As I am not religious, I don’t have the option of saying that we have a soul. I think we have a brain.

I don’t think we can conclude that certain parts of the human body could only have been “designed” by a creator. The eye for instance exists in a variety of executions in nature—everything from simple light-sensitive cells, via eyes that resemble primitive box cameras (squid), to the amazingly acute eyes of a falcon or a vulture, to the middling human eye (not very good at one thing, pretty good at most things), has evolved from simpler types over the course of natural history.

Best,

Tor
Can you understand how simple it is for me to believe that God created everything? I mean look at it this way, when you see Mountains, Sunsets and Sunrises, Oceans, Galexies of stars and Planets, etc…all these things that are so awesomely beautiful, all the creatures and critters and humans and plants and redwood trees and everything.
Even if things “evolved” as you seem to believe, I’d still think God put it all in place to evolve.

I beg to differ abortion is the murder of a innocent human made in Gods image, go to Psalm 139
Abortion is not a ‘religious’ issue.

It is a human rights issue.

We’re not talking about whether some person ‘feels’ that abortion is ‘okay’ for them, and another that it is not ‘okay’ for them.

We are talking about the brutal murder of a person who has done no wrong, committed no crime, has no representation or say in his/her death, being chopped into pieces, or burned alive or poisoned.

Because some may not ‘believe’ in a moral truth does not make the truth somehow ‘not true.’

Turnorburn, you have completely misunderstood my post.

The poster to whom I was responding was claiming that abortion was ‘only’ a religious issue–as though if one did not happen to ‘share’ a belief in religion–any religion–one could not presume to ‘judge’ the action of abortion. And that if one was not religious, then to claim that abortion should be illegal solely on religious grounds would be unfair. (let me make this clear. This is not my position. This is the position to which I was responding. It always helps if you know the context.)

But people like this, who neatly package issues as ‘religious’ or ‘not religious’, need to know that religion is a lot ‘more’ than ‘shalt nots’ and that it is far more encompassing than 1 hour at church on a Sunday.

People like this need to know that abortion is a human rights issue. Exactly because it is such, it is an issue that both those who profess a ‘religion’ and those who do not profess a religion must address.

People who say, “Well, my religion says it is okay”, or “I don’t believe in religion so it’s okay” are flat out, downright wrong.

To fall into the trap of appearing to claim abortion is evil solely because our religious views note (correctly) that it is evil is to open the door to that type of argument. . . that it is a ‘relative’ thing, only relevant if I ‘personally’ believe that kind of thing.

And it is not.

Abortion is an evil whether one thinks it is, or not. Evil doesn’t ‘depend on if the individual recognizes it or not.’ Evil is evil, good is good. No middle ground. No ‘differences’ between one person and another.

I HOPE that this has cleared up the point for you.
