Billy Dee played Lando Calrissian in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

I can’t really think of where he would have fit in the story honestly. His little friend that flew the Falcon with him in ROTJ was in it though.

I do hope Rian Johnson brings him in for Episode 8. There’s supposedly going to be a “casino” scene with Luke, from the set pics I’ve seen. Be cool if it was owned by Lando. But who knows. Have to wait and see.

I was waiting to see him in Episode VII, too, but I suppose they cannot bring in every old character in the very first movie of the new trilogy. They need to space it out. Otherwise, there would be nothing for Star Wars fans to look forward too and clamor over. 😛

I do admit that Billy Dee is pushing 80. He had to drop out of Dancing with the Stars in 2014 due to medical reasons.

I would have loved seeing him in it. I hope they can fit him into Episode VIII.

I hope so, it would be nice to see Lando again. I would really like to see how Lando and Finn would get along.

Yes. I loved him in original movies and looked for him in new one. Was very disappointed.

Since Hans has died, I hope they include him in the next movie but it really would have been nice for Hans to meet his old friend, Lando.

I don’t think any of those actors from the original movies should have reprised their roles as they’re all too old and infirm; the resulting spectacle was depressing and/or ridiculous. I kept doing a double take during The Force Awakens thinking that Carrie Fischer was actually being played by Patricia Neal (really - her face and voice made her a dead ringer). And Han Solo’s energetic running and jumping during blaster fights seemed entirely incongruous in someone who’s nearly 80. A real octogenerian either wouldn’t be able to keep up and would die during one of those encounters and so would more likely retire from smuggling, or run a smuggling empire from an office somewhere while outsourcing the physical work to younger people.

Remember this is supposed to be in the future or in a higher species so 80 years may not be seen as that old. Yoda certainly is very old.

They probably should have used a** stunt man** to add to the movie but it was doable with Hans and then he died so not more worry about future roles.

Hollywood can do a lot with age and Lando was such a strong character. You are right though, they really need to think about these roles and how to play them well.
