The thing to keep in mind is that just because someone says they are Catholic, does not mean they act like one.
Politicians are a great example.
Certainly, you can be friends with people of different backgrounds. A lot of individuals from these backgrounds WILL respect you for who you are.
So, itās not about if people come from a different background but if people are trying to pull you away from the faith.
Just use CAF as an example. Look at all the Catholics who post on here defending so-called gay āmarriageā.
Did you know that there are GLBTQ persons out there who oppose gay āmarriageā?
Now, wouldnāt you rather be around someone like that than a fellow Catholic who insists you need to āget with the timesā?
I dated a Wiccan girl once. It didnāt work out for various reasons, but not directly because she was Wiccan.
Itās more about how people treat and respect you than anything.
Now, if youāre still not comfortable around people who are different, thatās not judgemental, thatās a personal choice. Thereās no obligation to be with people who are different just so you can so say you know someone who is different.
In fact, SouthernBelle, no one will admit it (itās not PC), but the vast majority of people interact with others who are like them in some way, shape or form.
