Should Catholics be Pacifist and Anti-Death Penalty?

Dear CAF Apologists:

I have been looking around the forums regarding the death penalty and just war, and I’m still unclear about the Catholic Church’s position on both issues. Indeed, if we are bound as Catholics against abortion, how come we aren’t bound to oppose the death penalty (which both the Pope and the USCCB recommend) and oppose unjust war to the point of pacifism?
