I have been invited by a new friend to attend the Assembly of God Bible Study Group. However I am a practicing Catholic. Isn’t the Catholic Bible different than other religion’s bible?

What is a polite way of declining the offer, if its not a good idea?

Dear C,

The Assembly of God denomination tends to be very anti-Catholic. You would inevitably run into trouble. It would be far easier to not attend than to have to extricate your self after having been in attendance.

“No, thank you.” works. If they ask you why, just tell them that you prefer such study in a Catholic setting—After all, you are a Catholic! Makes sense. This is as much information as you need to give. If they persist, then they are the ones who are not being polite.
