I think the sad reality is that while many feminists believe things like this objectify and degrade women, there are many other feminists that have a distorted viewpoint where they think that lingerie football, stripping, pornography and prostitution etc are actually empowering and “pro woman” and pro women’s sexuality (providing that the woman herself chooses it).

What they are unable to see though,is that it is still making womens bodies a commodity regardless of how much the woman agrees with it because the majority of their business is from males and those males usually don’t view them with respect.
This is why “feminists” drive me nuts. Especially since most of them these days aren’t even old enough to remember when we ACTUALLY could be fired for being a woman or being pregnant (I don’t mean “letting you go hidden under the guise of you’re a terrible worker” - I mean actually not hiring you or firing you because you were going to have a baby) or when it was blatantly legal to pay a woman less than a man because she was female.

These were real issues. This stuff actually happened.

They’re too full of contradictions these days to even make sense.

Economists find it easy to explain why an employer would pay a woman less than a man.

What we’ve never been able to make any progress on is why it would pay a man more than a woman . . .

Good points. We need to show women respect and going to places that obviously objectify them or watching them being objectified is just wrong. Some things are right and some are wrong. We need to say this clearly.

Oh. I saw the title and immediately thought of big burly football 🏈 players wearing lingerie.

Are lingerie made in their size?

Are we talking about porn? That’s would be a whole different discussion your right. I thought we were talking about silly foolishness that is done only to make money? It’s when people don’t make a big deal out of that type of entertainment that is goes away. If someone ask me if I watch something like this I just say no.
This is a really good point. Back in the 70’s the American singer Billy Joel recorded a song called “Only the Good Die Young.” It was a sad, pathetic shot at the teaching of young Catholic women about the dignity of their sexuality, and the singer’s desire to “relieve” them of their old fashioned ways." It created a backlash among Catholic listeners and evoked a storm of criticism and calls for boycott of Joel’s music. The result, the song which wasn’t all that popular, suddenly because a smash multi million seller because of the publicity, and it is still a staple today on “oldies” radio stations. I hear it a couple times a day in my area of the country.
Lingerie football, ignore it, pay it no mind if you find it offensive. Don’t give it the publicity it desperately wants.

I know a lot of them used to do ballet to train them to be light on their feet. That’s not an urban myth.

The thought of Tom Brady in a sheer nightgown cracked me up (he’s not my favorite anyway, LOL).

Sure are. The number of Transexuals in this country are growing exponentially. Caitlyn Jenner is a large athletic fellow, 6’2" and probably 200.

When a specific item is wrong it is good to protest it. Lingerie football would be wrong and protesting it would be a good thing. The metoo movement has 100s if not 1000s of issues tied to it. As some of these issues (probably many of these issues) are positive ones and are not wrong, it probably is wise to not protest and “throw out the baby with the bath water.” Better to protest something specific that is clearly wrong and against the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Sorry,I think you have misunderstood my question.
I wasn’t referring to protesting against Metoo movement-I was suggesting whether things like lingerie football (or similar) undermine the Metoo movement.

Yep.Its hard to see how this can be changed though because feminism/feminist views is popular and Catholicism/Christianity views are perceived as being unpopular.

This brings to mind,

We are where we are because many people just don’t care about seemingly insignificant things that go into to the whole boiling pot that allows for sliding backward in being civilised .

I don’t think they need to be dichotomously opposed. There were actually huge debates among feminists in the 1970s over pornography. Some feminists, such as Andrew Dworkin and her supporters, were adamantly opposed to porn. Modern feminism has a complex history. But in the end, I consider myself a feminist.

Today, the mainstream feminist movement, which is the noisy voice that’s taken over media, has gone tail-between-the-legs on the issue. This is ridiculous. It makes no sense to have a porn culture, which teaches that women are objects to please men, and then scratch our heads wondering why we need a #metoo movement.

I live in Australia and here we have a prominent online feminist publication called Mamamia.
I’ve never understood their reasoning that they can have articles all about Metoo movement or similar issues, but then have other articles from a woman who’s a porn actress talking about how prostitution or pornography are legitimate jobs, how it is empowered and supports a lavish lifestyle, that referring to sex workers as victims is offensive to them etc…🤷‍♀️

lingerie football is just too stupid to protest. if ya have to protest that then ya mine as well protest womens beach volley ball, and demand that women wear some turn of the century beach clothing to play sports in.

Women’s volleyballs a bit different probably because while the outfits are small, their primary purpose was not created to objectively (correct me if I’m wrong).

I saw Tom Brady & the Patriots blew their chance to beat the Dolphins in Jan 2016 in person.

It’s the main reason why they had to go to Denver & suffer AFC Championship exit.
