What is the general attitude of the Catholic Church towards Orthodox? They should leave their churches and join one of the rites of the Catholic Church or they should stay where they are until the schism is finally healed?

This has already been settled by the Pope and Ecumenical Patriarch. We have agreed we won’t actively convert each other. If people of their own free will chooses to move to the other “communion” of Apostolic Churches, then so be it. But we won’t have missions or proselytize each other.

Thanks! In looking over that document, it looks like, at least as of 1993, the path to union must not involve “absorption” of one over the other, but rather the meeting of both in truth.

In other words, they are suggesting whatever is the truth will exclude absorption of one over the other.

I have a close Orthodox friend and we always talk about our faiths with each other. For example, take contraception… I can’t help but feel compelled to tell him his willingness to use contraception is wrong and then I want to tell him he should really check out Theology of the Body… etc. We are close enough friends that we can talk about these kinds of things without each other getting offended. It is at this point I start to feel like I am sort of evangelizing him a bit… (I just love talking about my Catholic faith). I just wonder if, as a Catholic, when the opportunity arises, should I promote Catholic truths to him that the Orthodox don’t have? Or just leave him be with the attitude 'you be a good Orthodox, I’ll be a good Catholic"?
